With our team as banged up as it's been lately and the luck we have been having with freak injuries I don't see this as a huge negative.

In other news...
When Youk heard Swish won, he threw a bat, slammed a helmet, found a national TV camera – looked right at it and mouthed “F*&K”…. Shortly afterwards, Manny flew in from LA and punched him. Then he sulked in the dugout for half an inning.

but really would rather everyone rest those couple of days than go through the whole all-star ordeal.

Its his flawed system that allows players who are "popular"
to be all stars and not players who earn it on the field.
It seems obvious to me that the All Star game is entirely Bud’s baby and he deserves the lions share of the blame for mistakes like Votto and Swisher.

Of course Pujols got voted in, he’s Pujols. And then Votto got voted in, so that’s not really even a mistake.

incidentally, the same amount the Sox would have had if Youk had won. The only two in the starting lineup are Cano (who certainly ought to be the way he’s played this year) and Jeter (and of course Jeter is, worthy or not)
Youk shouldn't have been on the final vote in the first place

I'm not gonna lie, I voted for Swish a lot, and I am really happy that Youkilis isn't on it

I'm frankly glad Youk didn't win because I didn't want him injured further/again.
But he totally deserved it.
Swisher totally has the edge in batting average, which everyone knows is a great stat...

Come on. Youk wasn't 'snubbed'
He made an excellent showing in the voting. No need to get all snotty just because Swisher edged him out a little. Personally, I’d rather have Youk resting his ankle than to be playing in that game.

Thats not what I said, he deserves to go to Anaheim because hes having a great season. Youkilis had the same chance to go but I guess Yankee fans support their players more.
Maybe not, but your posts implied it. And it’s not so much about fan support, as the quantity of bandwagon fans.

It absolutely came down to fan voting
Did Youkilis deserve it over Swisher? Yes. But, of course, Yankee fans aren’t going to vote for Youkilis. We’re happy to have made a difference in how Swisher got to Anaheim.. and he went 4-4 with a walk last night which was nice to watch.

Our point is that Red Sox fans really don’t have to look to things other than Youk’s undeniably superior performance to justify our votes. It’s cold comfort, sure – but comforting nonetheless.
