Josh Beckett to Make Rehab Start Sunday For Pawtucket
Josh Beckett is on the road to recovery and his first true test will come Sunday when he starts for Pawtucket (AAA):
Boston Red Sox RHP Josh Beckett will make a rehab start for the PawSox this Sunday (July 11) when the PawSox host the Syracuse Chiefs (AAA-Washington) at 1:05 pm at McCoy Stadium. Beckett has been on Boston's disabled list since May 19 with a lower back strain. He is 1-1 with a 7.29 ERA in 8 GS for the Red Sox this season.
Josh threw a 55-pitch simulated game in Tampa Bay today vs. batters from the Gulf Coast Red Sox as the Gulf Coast game this afternoon between the Orioles and the Red Sox was postponed due to rain.
Beckett will likely make a couple more starts afterward before being called back up to the Red Sox -- if he is healthy. Late July seems like the appropriate time to see Beckett back in Boston.

It will be nice to have Beckett back in the rotation
as much as he stunk up the joint in April/May. a healthy Beckett makes a strong #3 for us down the stretch.
and in the playoffs
if they get that far

Hopefully Beckett can handle being the #3 the rest of the way
…maybe even #4 if Lackey keeps pitching well.
In high school, I threw a knuckleball and got to pitch in one game: 1IP, 2BB, 1HPB, 3K, 0ER.
