Trade For A Reliever, Or are our problems somewhere else?
I really like Ramon Ramirez and Hideki, but so far Ramon hasn't been doing as good as he was in the first half of the 2009 season and Hideki hasn't been producing like he use to neither. We would have won a lot more games and at least would be in 2nd place with a good lead if they had been producing as expected. So, who do we go after so we can have a chance at the World Series? I honestly have no clue because my knowledge of the MLB is very limited, I would love to hear what everyone thinks we should about our Reliever problem. Even if some of you people don't think we need a Reliever which I don't think much think it's more than a Reliever problem seeing how our Bats are doing more than expected of them, and our starting rotation is one of the best if not the best in the league with Dice-K, Beckett, Clay, Lester, and Lackey. Please weigh in and tell me what you think about what's going to happen before the Trade Deadline ( July 31, 201o, Saturday, 4:00pm ).
P.S. Do we really want to get older by picking up Downs? Or is he worth it, and the asking price? Hoffman is obviously not even close to being worth a second look.

The reliever market is terrible right now.
There aren’t many good ones, and most are already traded, won’t be traded, or are ridiculously expensive. I think we shouldn’t make any moves and figure this thing out in the winter, since the market is so bad, but it could be a possibility if we can get someone that will be here in the next two years. Next year’s draft is supposedly stacked with talent, so we could spend a little more for a type A and take the picks when he leaves like Wagner last year. I don’t see that happening.

Oh, let's give Manuel, Richardson, and Boweden
a real chance because they can’t be any worse than what we have now. When they were called up, it was like pulling teeth to be able to get Tito to use them.

That's really the best move
If Okajima and Ramirez can’t get the job done anymore, they shouldn’t play anymore. Give the young guys a shot to see what they can do. If they step up, the team will be all set to make a playoff run; if they don’t, at least we know we have to get some bullpen help in the offseason.
Scott Downs is worth getting older for
not worth the asking price.
Personally, I like Breslow and Wuertz the best as options. I’d love Mike Gonzalez as an option, but he’s just signed for too much money to make a reasonable deal without giving up way more than he’s worth in $ or prospects. I tend to agree with BoldandBrash here that our minor league guys need to be given a chance, because at this point, they have a better chance of being reliable relievers than three of the stooges we have in there now.
Speaking of getting old, good lord look at the Yankees now
Posada – 39, Rivera – 40, Petitte – 38, Berkman – 34, Jeter – 36, A-Rod – 35, Vazquez – 34
Heck even Tex and Sabathia are at the 30 mark
I dunno, it don't think half-year rentals are all that relevant for that
i mean sure, that’s true, but I don’t see Berkman as getting them any older because he’s just there for a couple of months. It’s not like a big blow if he is unhealthy.
