Trevor Hoffman to Sox? Doesn't look like it
Ken Rosenthal is reporting the Sox asked about Trevor Hoffman - he of the 6.82 ERA and fastball in the low-80s. Fortunately, it won't happen as the Red Sox are one of five teams on his no-trade list (strange considering he and Theo go back to their Padre days together). He has turned it around of late, but I can't imagine Hoffman, who is known for his exceptional changeup, would want to be a 7th inning guy for the Sox. It doesn't look like it will happen, in any case.

There's such thing as a worse-than-Gagne?

Notable ones and odd choices will get reported like this

Seriously?
Lets see, his ERA is the weaker NL is 6.75. Meaning a move to the powerstacked AL East would make him good again?
We need a guy who can pitch in the american league like a Downs type (I want Soria but it’s not happening)
This would even trump the Gagne deal. Gagne was at least pitching well (16/17 in saves ERA around 2 closing for Texas in the AL). THta deal made sense on paper since no one could’ve known Ggane would’ve been historically bad

yeah I'm pretty sure that what we can get from this is
Theo has inquired about every reliever in baseball, because he is trying to gauge how teams are valuing all kinds of relievers to help him make a decision.
