The David DeJesus rumors may have a new element now
He may have hurt his wrist while tracking a deep fly ball off Jeter (ended up as a inside the parker), had to leave the game.

I’ll check in on Jesus Montero, maybe he can do something

Would we all agree this is a pretty huge series for us?
We need to win at least 3 of 4 against arguably one of the weakest teams in the AL. Hopefully we can pick up a game or two in the wild card race, if we drop this series and lose more ground I don’t like our chances.
Wow.....Papi got robbed
Amazing catch by Ichiro
Has anyone noticed that the microphones on NESN are not turned up enough? And of course f-ing Ichiro just robbed Papi.

Don’t know why nesn is still in commercial but I have extra innings on directv. I get home and away broadcast. Lackey has an 0-2 count.

I think today is our big chance to score a lot!
Ryan Rowland-Smith : 1W-9L, 6.18 ERA, and AVG 0.308.
Hey Red Sox, please give us a win with more than 5 runs! (It was a long, long time ago when we did that.)
Ryan Rowland-Smith is having a horrible year.
3.50 K/9, 1.68 WHIP, 5.99 xFiP
If we don’t put up some major offense against this guy it’s pretty pathetic.
As of now we are making Rowland-Smith look like a Cy Young candidate. And Lackey without giving up a hit has given up a run. WTF? Does anyone else have a hard time watching this?

I know folks have been down on Lackey.
And tonight he’s been borderline on a no-hitter so it seems appropriate to point out that, including tonight’s starts, in Lackey’s last 10 games,
He’s gone at least 6 innings deep 9 times.
He’s gone at least 7 innings deep 6 times.
He’s surrendered 3 or fewer earned runs 7 times.
He’s surrendered 2 or fewer earned runs 5 times.
Not ready to anoint him the ‘ace’ that we paid big bucks for, but it seems he’s slowly turned a corner.
Suddenly the tying run is on deck.
Nice job, Manny.
Wow...
…apparently MDC’s injured again. Or – alternate theory here – he’s as useless as dead rhinoceres’ moldy fly-eaten dick.
He’s about to go on the DL again, as I’m going to savagely beat him with a sack full of doorknobs.
Wait 'til next/this year?

TWO - yes TWO blown double-play balls in the 9th inning.
ridiculously bad defense. First one by Scut. Second one by Hall.
As bad as MDC was - you gotta look at the SS and 2B standing behind the mound
and WHAT THE FRACK ARE YOU CLOWNS DOING????
Man – going into this year, I had high hopes for this team to set all kinds of defensive marks. And we have consistently booted, dropped and scuffed away so many wins. I just want to cry.
Scouts been good
Hall is only in there because of the broken foot. Though at some point, you gotta think Jed would be better defensively.
MDC was bad, but the infield was much much worst.
Not one but two blown double plays….Bill Hall is is horrible, like I said when they game started I’d have rather seen Lowrie get the start at 2nd.
Gawd, we suck in extra innings.
Our hitters can’t ever seem to do anything in extras.
ten batters for them
ten pitches for us

And the Mariners are my 2nd favorite team. But this sucks big time if we lose.
Funny, they Mariners are also my 2nd Favorite AL team.
I normally end up watching them because when the Red Soxs game ends the Mariners game is just beginning.
I've followed them since they came in the league. Lovable losers for so long.

I can't put this one on Paps, so I wouldn't call it the end of the Papelbon era.
The poor guy got not one but two double plays, he got 5 outs in the inning before they even scored. With a defense like that what can the pitching do?
As a pitcher when you make pitches you expect your defense behind you to make plays, he got a perfect double play ball off the tip of the bat. Your defense has to make plays you can’t expect pitchers to strike out every single batter.
Agreed - the calls above are for cutting _Patterson_, not _Papelbon_
We all know tonights disaster wasn’t Paps fault.
Ya. I must have been confused, Fenway said, "Bill Hall must be cut tomorrow. Also I think this is the end of the Papelbon era."
“end of the Papelbon era” made me thing he was blaming Paps, where if anything they should be apologizing to him.

Seattle has suffered through a major case of team-wide under-performance
far too many hitters having career lows
they came into the season based around pitching and defense and knew the hitting would be weak
but it turned out to be beyond weak. It was vapor.
I have no faith...
…that we’ll manage not to drink poison Gatorade or some shit like that. I love them, but this team could fuck up a cup of coffee

So what would red sox give up for craig breslow?
If the rumored interest is true. He’s signed through 2013, so 3+ yrs of control. Unlike Scott Downs (type A FA) who blue jays just several weeks ago was asking for SS jose iglesias
I have faith in these pitchers in order of most faith to least:
Daniel Bard
Robert Manuel (needs to adjust but I like him)
Ramon Ramirez (struggling but I believe he needs more time on the mound)
Papelbon
Scott Atchison
Michael Bowden
Tim Wakefield (Him to Bard is a nasty combo)
Delcarmen
Dustin Richardson
Okajima
moved to the pen because Beckett is coming back. He isn’t happy about it though even though he was originally planned to be the long reliever.
Ya, I was just asking is that your faith in him as a reliever or a starter.
Because as a starter I’d put him at the bottom of that list, as a reliever I agree with where you placed him.
My guess would be a couple of mid-level prospects.

If we couldn't manage to win against 6.27, 4.02, 5.06, 4.88, 4.97 ERA pitchers,
When can we get the win?
We touched Ryan Rowland-Smith up like his ERA suggests we should.
If we lose it’s because of defense, which is funny considering we are the defense and pitching Red Soxs of 2010.

I'm gonna have to agree with rock em.
I won’t say he completely sucks, but he is not a starting shortstop. A guy that usually hits around .260-.270 with just 4 hrs and 29 RBIs in 385 at bats along with 11 errors belongs on the bench. And he is 35 years old.
I don’t even dislike him, I’m just stating the truth.

I still like Scoot. I mean… He’s no Julio Lugo… but I like him.

I fully expect we’ll be losing in this inning half.
You’ve all been great. But I have date with a power drill that I need to press into my brain.
LOL
So Bard can’t pitch 2 innings but Oki can?

Francona just doesn't understand
our relief pitchers do not pitch good after one inning. Well, not like they pitch good anyways in one inning, but they are worse in two.

Ramirez has the second worst ERA on the team for the regulars, and Richardson has a much better ERA.
I will admit that Oki is worse. But Ramirez is right behind him.

Lol? You think ERA means everything?
His batting average against him is better than Oki’s, Richardson’s, and soon to be Delcarmen’s. Because Delcarmen’s BAA will be skyrocketing. Giving up over 11 hits in his last 3 and 1/3rds innings.
that is true

There you go Patterson. Better get the win.
But still have the bullpen to get through the inning.

Patterson swings hard…I like the guy.
Cannot wait till scutaro is gone…and to the guy that called him a rental…you’re hilarious. A 9 million dollar a year rental? Haha. Right.

I don't know who you bring in instead of RamRam who doesn't have a huge chance to blow it.
Atch to close it?
Nick Green?, JVE?, Javier Lopez?
I’d trust Atch over RamRam at this point…

Nick Green was a better pitcher than SS.
But, I’d say Atch to close it > RamRam. It’s just sad because we didn’t really have anyone who is clearly much better than RamRam.

Anyone else nervious about that fact we had another extra inning game, burning out the bullpen before the night before a pitching makes his return from the DL.
We did it before Buchs start as well.
Lets try that again:
the night before a pitcher makes his return from the DL. (that’s better)
+1
Was the best thing about the almost no-no. I’m not a Lackey fan, but he really deserved that win.

No real idea what happened in this game either, so I can't write a recap until late tomorrow at earliest.
But from what I gather:
Hell yes, Lackey. Please be a turn-around game?
And, uh…yay most of the offense. Boo errors. Blech.
