The David DeJesus rumors may have a new element now

He may have hurt his wrist while tracking a deep fly ball off Jeter (ended up as a inside the parker), had to leave the game.

Would we all agree this is a pretty huge series for us?

We need to win at least 3 of 4 against arguably one of the weakest teams in the AL. Hopefully we can pick up a game or two in the wild card race, if we drop this series and lose more ground I don’t like our chances.

Hall!!!

Damn Bill Hall sucks!! And now NESN just went to commercial for no reason.

by Fenway302 on Jul 22, 2010 10:21 PM EDT via mobile reply actions

Don’t know why nesn is still in commercial but I have extra innings on directv. I get home and away broadcast. Lackey has an 0-2 count.

by Fenway302 on Jul 22, 2010 10:23 PM EDT via mobile reply actions

I think today is our big chance to score a lot!

Ryan Rowland-Smith : 1W-9L, 6.18 ERA, and AVG 0.308.
Hey Red Sox, please give us a win with more than 5 runs! (It was a long, long time ago when we did that.)

by Kenmore Sq on Jul 22, 2010 10:29 PM EDT reply actions

Ryan Rowland-Smith is having a horrible year.

3.50 K/9, 1.68 WHIP, 5.99 xFiP

If we don’t put up some major offense against this guy it’s pretty pathetic.

by ruktuim on Jul 22, 2010 10:33 PM EDT up reply actions

As of now we are making Rowland-Smith look like a Cy Young candidate. And Lackey without giving up a hit has given up a run. WTF? Does anyone else have a hard time watching this?

I know folks have been down on Lackey.

And tonight he’s been borderline on a no-hitter so it seems appropriate to point out that, including tonight’s starts, in Lackey’s last 10 games,

He’s gone at least 6 innings deep 9 times.
He’s gone at least 7 innings deep 6 times.
He’s surrendered 3 or fewer earned runs 7 times.
He’s surrendered 2 or fewer earned runs 5 times.

Not ready to anoint him the ‘ace’ that we paid big bucks for, but it seems he’s slowly turned a corner.

I can't put this one on Paps, so I wouldn't call it the end of the Papelbon era.

The poor guy got not one but two double plays, he got 5 outs in the inning before they even scored. With a defense like that what can the pitching do?

As a pitcher when you make pitches you expect your defense behind you to make plays, he got a perfect double play ball off the tip of the bat. Your defense has to make plays you can’t expect pitchers to strike out every single batter.

Agreed, to a point.....

We need to win at least 3 of 4 against arguably one of the weakest teams in the AL.

Hopefully we can pick up a game or two in the wild card race, if we drop this series and lose more ground I don’t like our chances.

I think this series is a huge one for us, one we need to win, if we drop this series I think the season will follow.

So what would red sox give up for craig breslow?

If the rumored interest is true. He’s signed through 2013, so 3+ yrs of control. Unlike Scott Downs (type A FA) who blue jays just several weeks ago was asking for SS jose iglesias

by MagicMike23 on Jul 23, 2010 1:24 AM EDT reply actions

I have faith in these pitchers in order of most faith to least:
Daniel Bard
Robert Manuel (needs to adjust but I like him)
Ramon Ramirez (struggling but I believe he needs more time on the mound)
Papelbon
Scott Atchison
Michael Bowden
Tim Wakefield (Him to Bard is a nasty combo)
Delcarmen
Dustin Richardson
Okajima

Ya, I was just asking is that your faith in him as a reliever or a starter.

Because as a starter I’d put him at the bottom of that list, as a reliever I agree with where you placed him.

Not Reddick

Too much, and the sox wouldn’t trade him.

I’d say something like Alex Wilson and David Renfroe, just as examples as what kind of value.

I won’t say he completely sucks, but he is not a starting shortstop. A guy that usually hits around .260-.270 with just 4 hrs and 29 RBIs in 385 at bats along with 11 errors belongs on the bench. And he is 35 years old.

I don’t even dislike him, I’m just stating the truth.

Lol? You think ERA means everything?

His batting average against him is better than Oki’s, Richardson’s, and soon to be Delcarmen’s. Because Delcarmen’s BAA will be skyrocketing. Giving up over 11 hits in his last 3 and 1/3rds innings.
