The Injury Sox will send Felix Doubront to the mound for his third major league start, and hopefully his last for a while with Clay Buchholz on the mend.
The Rangers counter with Colby Lewis who's having himself a career year for Texas.
The Sox do get Adrian Beltre back, bringing the total number of regulars starting tonight up to five. Yay?

Our pitching is fucking horrendous.
We’re gonna be like 10 back by the time we even have a chance to field a respectable team.
Doubront is not ready yet. Wake is garbage.
We need Beckett to go like 12-0 to even have a chance
Even then, not as worried. We were looking really bad early with that bad start, couldn’t get over .500, we got pretty far back and then got back within .5 games of first even with half the team on the disabled list. A couple more put us over the edge but they’re coming back and so will we. Theo isn’t selling though, we won’t know how good we are until after the deadline anyway.

they need to just call it a season, anyone with a reasonable understanding of baseball would
get it, and not complain.

I'm starting to lean to us being sellers instead of buyers.
If we want to make a run at it we need serious bullpen help in a market that doesn’t seem to offer it, we are going to have to depend on getting really good performances from players as soon as they come back from injury and we need either the Yankees or Rays to have a meltdown.
It seems like a lot has to go right for us to even make the post season.
Even if we make it, who pitches the 6th or 7th?

That's why I'm starting to think sellers instead of buyers, either that or don't make any moves at all and just see how next year plays out.
The market doesn’t seem to have any really strong relievers (we need at least two imo) and it seems like so far the trade sellers have been making out huge so I don’t see us being able to lowball anyone.
Also, Paps hasn’t been Paps and we would have to depend on unknowns how guys are going to play coming off the DL.
Who knows how well Beckett is going to do coming off such a long DL, also all the players returning might need some time to turn it back on and get hot, time isn’t something we have.
We are a much when they return, but are we a better team instantly or are they going to take time to get going again….because time isn’t something we have.
I’m hopeful, we can win, I want us to win, but it’s just a lot of unknowns, might be too many unknowns to gamble young talent away on.

I don't think Theo is going to be aggressive on the buying front this year.
I have a feeling he is going to hope Bowden can help the Pen and we can make it into the post season when our regulars come back.
Than hope Beckett/Lester/Buch can carry us pitching wise giving us at least 7, Bard/Paps for 2 and our offense can put up big run support. Doesn’t seem like a realistic way to win.
Yeah, the market isn't great
The only thing we really need is bullpen help. Everyone else has been great except for Cam and Ells, so the only guy we can replace would be Cameron. There are gonna be FAs to be had and the options now aren’t good long term ones.

I think Soria and Downs are two of the best available.
Soria would cost a lot and Downs I can see as an option he is a type A free agent at the end of the season.

It's basically like we are playing without a DH because Cash is out pitcher spot. Hell, I'd rather see our pitchers hit and us DH for Cash.

I do the same thing, even with huge blow out and really disappointing ones I don't abandon the team (turn off the tv).
I simply don’t have anything to say (type) and turn the computer off and prefer to be miserable alone and let the healing effects of beer help.

Turning it off just seems to make it worse.
As bad as blowouts are, it’s the close games given up by the bullpen in the late innings that really get to me.
Funny, during the AS break I was remembering back to April and recalling thinking that if we were just within 5or so at the break, we’d be ok. Well, here we are. I just hope they can stay close long enough for the reinforcements to arrive. ;-)

None of us know if he could have pitched or not
but when the injury occurred, Buch said he felt like he would be able to make his next start. He was originally not supposed to miss a start, just have it moved back with the off days. I think he missed something like 4 starts. The injury management was in precaution, but it seems questionable and probably cost the sox multiple wins.
