A Quick Thank You From Yankees Fans

Hey everyone, I'm Brandon C., a writer for Pinstripe Alley. Recently Yankees fans lost both Bob Sheppard and George Steinbrenner. Many fans of other teams did not respect the fact that Yankees fans have hearts and souls and whatnot and bashed the men that passed.

Yankees fans generally ignored it, but some members of our specific community got upset and frustrated with other blogs.

This blog, however, was never a problem. You guys were classy about the situation, sending condolences, and from what I've read, generally mourning the passing of a pair of Yankees legends. Whether you liked George or not, you kept that to yourselves and mourned the loss.

Then, I noticed the Red Sox mourned Steinbrenner at their game.

While I hate the Red Sox, I can say I gained a lot of respect for the fans and organization through this past week. Thank you for being classy and keep it up!

Ha ha ha. "Blog Hug" even.

I, for one, appreciate Brandon’s note, and I know most on the site feel the same. Thanks, Brandon.

I look forward to hating you all again for the rest of the season. ;)

Yeah, I do definitely agree with the note, though. I was actually very impressed with the way you guys handled the whole situation.

Cheers, and good luck getting the Wild Card :P

I love you Guys - I really do

I’m sure in a day or two I will regret saying this, but thanks for the effort last night remembering The Boss and The Voice. I have always hated the Red Sox, not their Fans (except for the ones who called my nine year old an asshole for wearing a Jeter jersey to Fenway). But then again what is a rivalry without some hate. Unlike most Met fans who said, “I’m glad he’s dead.” Instead of wishing for the demise of their own putrid ownership they cam only revel in the misery of others.

Thanks for the effort.

This red sox-yankees thing is getting too lovey-dovey for my tastes

no, I appreciate the message. Certainly baseball would be a different world if it weren’t for George. Everyone who really likes baseball as it is today should at least show some respect, even if they don’t like him.

haha

I like seeing Red Sox and Yankees fans interact and get along here and at PSA.

exactly, and the Red Sox/Yankees world would be a lot different without George.

I think sometimes we forget that despite all of the bad blood between us as fans, no two groups of fans in baseball are as close as we are or respect each other more and that really drives the rivalry.

And times like these strengthen it too.

Because next month when our series resumes you’ll be sitting in your chairs watching the game going “Man I hate the Sox.” Then you’ll think of this moment and and you’ll feel compassion, briefly, and then the next thought is “they made me like them for a week. F*&^ these guys.” And everything is back to the way it always is and that’s the way the greatest rivalry in sports should be. Support when each other needs it but awe inspiring hatred (built on mutual respect!) when the teams take the field and I know neither of us, especially The Boss, would want it any other way.

He was a great man and if the man that “replaces” him can bring half of what George brought to the game, then I know the Yanks will always be there with us in this rivalry.

There hasn't been this much agreement

Since Joe West decided to be a very public specific ass instead of his normal general doucheyness.
