Minor Lines Live!: Futures at Fenway Today
In my opinion, today is one of the best days on the Red Sox's calendar: Futures at Fenway.
It's a great little showcase for some of the minor league talent in the Red Sox farm system. It gets their feet wet while allowing the spectators to take in a couple of good baseball games on the cheap. Tickets are cheap, pretzels are cheap and, most importantly, beer is cheap(er).
It's a wonderful thing.
I'll be in attendance today for my first Futures at Fenway. Look for the guy wearing the guy wearing this t-shirt and is drunk on cheap, cheap pretzels.
If you attend today's games, jump into this thread later and let everyone know what you thought.

Younginer couldn't put batters away
Spinners hit a lot of grounders. And we had a nice marriage proposal where she said yes.

Observations
Younginer got ahead early a lot, and was hitting some corners, but really struggled to get anyone out after two strikes. It looked like he was refusing to give them anything to hit, and expecting swings and missed. Maybe a matter of the dramatically higher level of play out of highschool, where things like 14 strikeout games aren’t that uncommon for top pitchers.
Fastball was 91-92, topped out at 93. Curve and change were both very good looking. Crossed up the catcher on a good few occasions, so missing spots. Bad day.
Bryce Brentz swung at some really bad pitches.
Brandon Jacobs booted a ball in the outfield trying to grab it off the grass, and almost didn’t run out a base hit single—thought it was a foul, since he didn’t even move from the batters box. He did, however, show a strong arm, and almost threw out a runner at third who tried for home (looked like Vitek got the tag on him, actually).
Miles Head really sort of exudes power up close. We’ll see if it ends up showing in his game. Looked stronger than Jacobs, actually.
Don’t remember much about Renfroe. I’m pretty sure there wasn’t much close in his walk though.
Vitek had a really impressive at bat where he fouled off pitch after pitch after going down I think 0-2, eventually drawing the walk. Hell of a show. Also looked strong defensively from what little I saw, but that was mostly a matter of hands and less of range.
Felix Sanchez is pretty damn fast. 2 SB (one was a bad throw, though) and beat out what I was absolutely sure was going to be a double play.
Though Younginer crossed him up a lot, Chen also seemed legitimately poor at actually catching the ball. He blocked it just fine, but really had issues closing the mit, of all things.
USG
Felix sanchez amazed me with his speed. What also amazed me was Fenway drainage system. It sucked. I alway sit on the first base side, but once the spinners game was stopped, I took the opportunity to walk around to places in the park I’ve never seen. Fenways a magical place but you can definately see why some people might want a new park.
