Manny Delcarmen Headed to the Disabled List With Forearm Strain
A day after allowing six runs without recording an out, Manny Delcarmen is headed to the disabled list with an apparent right forearm strain.
Delcarmen has struggled in the month of June, allowing twelve runs in just eight innings. He's allowed a wak per inning, and two hits per inning in the same period. He has been especially ineffective in his last three outings.
Delcarmen claimed to be injured during the second half of last year, when he put up similarly poor results, but I'm not buying it.

Delcarman has been wrong,
so get him right. This DL trip is addition by subtraction for the bullpen.
Look at Delcarman’s SSS 2010 splits:
April: 10.1 IP, 39 batters faced, 0.87 WHIP, 1.74 ERA
May.: 14.2 IP, 57 batters faced, 0.95 WHIP, 1.84 ERA
June: 8.1 IP, 48 batters faced, 2.88 WHIP, 12.96 ERA
While he gets it right, we should see Manuel or Bowden.
This bullpen continues to evolve in the right direction and we will still see some type of bullpen improvement by the trade deadline as teams lower their asking price for bullpen arms. It may not be happening as fast as we would like but it is happening and that gives me added faith in the FO.
The list of team improvements still on the FO list have to be:
1. Bullpen arm
2. Outfield depth
3. Utility infielder with a proven bat
4. Better judgement from 3rd base coach
Let’s take this series vs Baltimore and then nothing less than 2/3 in St Petersburg.
the bullpen continues to suck horribly,
not evolve in the right direction. What can you say, we were pretty much praying that these guys would cheat fate and continue to pitch well. Even if we trade for one guy, we’ll still have no depth in there.
Manny’s May was his only good month with a 3.62 FIP. Otherwise, it’s all unsustainable BABIP in April.
USG
I knew cherry picking Delcarmen's ERA's over his monthly FIP or xFIP splits
would not get by you, Ben, but his June ERA was so extreme after he last outing, I couldn’t resist.
Didnt Ramon do the same thing? They took him out because of something he made up. I think both are just scared to get dropped.

of note however
today is 10 days since Manuel got sent down… I think pretty much got to be him getting the call.
He would be eligible to come up anyway
Due to someone going on the DL. Either way, it probably should be him.

How about Manuel replace MDC
and Bowden replace Ramram? It’s worth a try.

Red Sox reacquire C Kevin Cash
What happened? I thought we were bringing up Molina?
"We are not normal, We are Legends. People will tell their kids about us." - Deon Butler before Ohio State Game 2008.
Presumably Molina couldn't learn Wakefield's knuckler in time for tomorrow night's start
and will head back to Pawtucket.
Happy to see the Sox and Astros make a deal.
Maybe the good raport and open lines of communication can lead to talks about acquiring one of their relievers: Brandon Lyon (salary dump) or Matt Lindstrom (arbitration years).
What happened is .... sit down ... Varitek is injured.
Broken foot. I’m not kidding.
