Red Sox Call Up Josh Reddick

PrintAccording to ESPN Boston's Joey McDonald, the Red Sox have recalled outfielder Josh Reddick from Pawtucket (AAA).
There has been no word yet on what the corresponding move is to make room for Reddick, who starts in center field tonight. However, the likely option is that Jeremy Hermida may be placed on the disabled list, as he was injured Friday night and is not in Saturday's lineup.

I guess this is good.
He has to be better than Hermida on defense, and he probably could have put up Hermida’s numbers if he played as much as Hermida.

He was playing full time in Pawtucket and sucked against AAA pitching. Though the last few days have been better for him, maybe he’s turned a corner. The defense will be better though.

Well, I’m curious if the suck will get proportionally worse with MLB pitching as compared to MiLB pitching. If he hasn’t changed anything he will hit worse than Hermida did.

I hate this move.
Reddick just started to modify how he was doing things in AAA, and was starting to see results.
Last year, after months of a modified approach with results, Reddick was called up from AA and instantly regressed to his old ways in the majors.
Call me crazy, but now seems like the time to have him keep it rolling in Pawtucket. Not hit the next brick wall.

Or they'll tell him to keep using his modified approach no matter what.
A lot of it is mental in regards to regressing back, etc.

Off topic but...
On 2 strikes, if a batter fouls a pitch off the catchers mask or his foot etc. and the catcher winds up catching it in the air, is it an out?
I would assume yes since if it bounces off of a fielder and he catches it then its an out
prior to hitting the ground of course
