Boof Bonser To Be Called Up; Scott Atchison To Pawtucket

The Red Sox pitching staff is going to be shuffled up a little bit.

Boof Bonser is expected to be called up to Boston on Monday. Scott Atchison -- aka My Hero -- will most likely be heading to Pawtucket to make room for Bonser.

The move is expected to happen Monday because, I presume, Bonser last piched on Tuesday, so he'll have enough rest to contribute right out of the bullpen. Meanwhile, Atchison can work over the weekend if the Sox need him to.

Bonser will most likely be in a long relief type role. With Tim Wakefield in the rotation and Josh Beckett on the disabled list, the Red Sox really haven't had a long relief specialist. Bonser should fill in nicely.

Call me crazy, but I kinda want Bobser to start.

Wake has sucked lately. Eh, Bonser sucks too, so it’s a toss up.

That's what I'm thinking will happen...

Boof starting and Wake going to the pen for long relief. I think Tim’s just too old to pitch 6 innings every 5 days now.

And Beckett is on the DL now

So Timmy is in the rotation. The only guy booting Timmy out is Beckett. Not Boof Bonser.

2 starts don't really establish a trend.

Wake is, by nature, inconsistent.

Boof is, by nature, bad.

If we're going to use two starts

How about Tim’s May 23rd and 12th. He gave up only 0 and 3 runs over 8 and 7 innings.

Interesting. After Wakes bad start, he’ll probaly be in the rotation until Beckett comes back. Who takes his spot in Pawtucket?

I’d rather have a probably-incompetent long man rather than one of our definitely-incompetent short relievers. While we’re shuffling up the bullpen, can we bring up Manuel and get rid of Ramirez?
