Minor Lines 6/28/10: Feast and Famine
Pawtucket L 4-9
Jorge Jimenez: 1-5, K
Lars Anderson: 2-3, 2B, BB, K
-.421/.450/.684 in last 5 games. Massive BABIP during that period, but a K% under 20, so not bad.
Aaron Bates: 2-4, HR, K
Josh Reddick: 0-4, K
Robert Coello: 3.2 IP, 5 H, 6 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, 1 HR
-Shoulda kept my big mouth shut.
Tony breaks up the no-no in the ninth after the jump.
Portland L 0-3
Yamaico Navarro: 0-3, BB
Luis Exposito: 0-4, 2 K, E
Anthony Rizzo: 1-4, 2B, K
-Tony comes up with the Sea Dogs' lone hit of the game in the ninth.
Salem W 12-1
Ryan Lavarnway: 3-5, 2B, BB, K
Oscar Tejeda: 2-4, 2B, 3B, BB, K
-Tejeda's BABIP is still very high, but he's actually got a few walks now, and it's hard to ignore the homers. Not saying he's definitely for real, but at some point it's definitely time to take serious notice.
Tim Federowicz: 1-4, 2B
Ryan Dent: 2-4, BB, K
Greenville W 5-4
Jeremy Hazelbaker: 0-5, 2 K
Derrik Gibson: 1-3, 2 BB
Chris McGuiness: 2-5, 2B, K
Shannon Wilkerson: 0-3, 2 K, A
Drake Britton: 1.1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 1 HR
Lowell L 3-6
Kolbrin Vitek: 0-2, 2 BB, 2 K
-Really liking Vitek. He hasn't brought the power yet, but every scouting report says he has it, and there's no denying the guy can work a count. Seems like a kind of ideal Red Sox player.
Bryce Brentz: 2-3, HR, BB
Brandon Jacobs: 1-4, HR
-Heyo, back-to-back. The difference between Brentz' .152/.300/.273 line and Jacobs' .333/.415/.528 line? 240 points of BABIP.
Miles Head: 0-4, 2 K, CS
Seth Schwindenhammer: 1-4, 3 K
Roman Mendez: 3 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 4 K
-That comeback lasted all of one game...
GCL Red Sox W 13-2
Keury De La Cruz: 2-6, 2B
Boss Moanaroa: 1-5, BB, K
Jose Vinicio: 2-5, 2B, 3B

Mendez's 6 GO to 0 FO is good though
Heard he had a bit of bad luck on some hits

I was at the Portland game. Rizzo got the hit, but his plate discpilne is terrible right now. he was facing a lefty though. I thought Ryne Miller had a real nice curveball tonight also.
And I have to comment on Bates’ HR, sorry.

Maybe a mid season promotion for Tejeda?
Nobody is blocking him, right?

How come...
Every time i look at this the prospects are always doing poorly? I should just stop looking here maybe they will turn things around haha.
Lars, Bates (your welcome), Lavarnaway, Tejeda, McGuiness, Vitek, Brentz. They all had good nights.

Vinicio's been doing well (SSS)
Head and Jacobs too. Kalish is finally back, but he’ll need to work on getting back to 100%, but was doing well before, Reddick has good days and bad, Jason Thompson and Keury de La Cruz down in GCL doing well…

The relative lack of Lavarnway love is a result of:
a) his being a man without a country position-wise?
b) some injury time and his being a bit older than you’d like?
c) me being delusional, and missing the “We Love Ryan” parade last week?
d) his not being that good?
e) all of the above.
Wait 'til next/this year?

Minor League Splits has 'em a few days old.
Usually I just do the math though. Not perfect, because my sac fly information is from Minor League Splits and thus a little outdated. But eh.
