No More Lasers- Pedroia hits the DL
Amalie Benjamin is reporting that Dustin Pedroia has a non-displaced fracture in the mid-foot bone. There is not any timetable for his recovery, but the Red Sox have brought up Angel Sanchez to take his place.
Let's hope this doesn't last long. At least Beltre wasn't involved.

4-6 weeks
If it’s a non-displaced fracture, those usually take 6 weeks to heal. If Pedroia heals really quickly, he might be back in 4 weeks, but you don’t want to rush this kind of injury — that’s a surefire recipe for breaking the bone again, only it’ll be more serious the next time.
My sentiments exactly! We are so screwed! Too bad Lowell is DL’d too. We could package him with some minor leaguers and get a decent backup.

That's too bad for you guys, he's been really good as of late
Never good to see someone injured regardless of any help it gives us.
Hope his foot heals up quickly.

75bandwagon must be enjoying this
‘cause we’re seriously fucked!
This team went threw a lot this season: 3 of the 4 OFers rotation have been lost to injuries, our number 2 starter and now our second best player? I don’t think we can overcome this, you can’t go out there with 3-4 replacement players and try to win every night!
Damn:

I really hope this isn't one of those seasons
Where we end up looking back at the end, a few games out of the playoffs, and wonder what could have been without a rash of ridiculous injuries.

This is why we need to get rid of Lowell
We could have a competent back up on the roster without having to sacrifice bullpen depth.

I don't get it.
Pedroia will be placed on the DL so what does Lowell have to do with it?
by SendEmHomeKim on Jun 26, 2010 6:01 PM EDT up reply actions
Lowell (currently on the DL) was taking up a roster spot and is doing NOTHING. If we got rid of Lowell it would allow us to get rid of Bill Hall. And that way we could have a dedicated outfielder on the bench and a dedicated middle infielder on the bench, which is the only reason we have Bill, because he “does” both albeit horribly.

Lowell is on the DL right now
I know, he never plays so you forget about him.

We got Reddick up instead. Now we have Castro. And NOW we have Angel Sanchez.

Goodbye for a few months.
I read Adam Kennedy could be a fit. Thoughts?

Not sure they'll trade for anybody
Hall will be our primary 2B I would think, let’s hope we can get somewhat of a starting OF together.

Goodbye playoff hopes.

Well, maybe
Rays just got no-hit for the second time this year, they’re slumping way bad. Really a guy like Nava will get the most playing time boost in all this. If he can be somewhat hot, yeah we’d still all much rather have Pedroia, but maybe we can stay ahead of the Rays. We really need guys like Ells and Beckett to come back.

We can stay ahead of Tampa maybe. But we need a real 2B.
Im looking at Kennedy and Theriot

Theriot is actually a real SS.
I’d rather have Sanchez than Kennedy.

We need a solid presence in the lineup thogh
Without Pedroia our lineup is mediocre.

The problem is
With the negative regression that will occur with Buchholz and Beltre we will need Lackey to step his game up and Ellsbury and Beckett to get back ASAP
Oh and luck, LOTS of luck (something we didn’t have much of it this season): bloop singles, broken bat doubles etc etc
Tough task!
"A couple years ago I had 60 at-bats, I was hitting .170, everyone was ready to kill me too. What happened? Laser show." Dustin Pedroia
Some of you throw in the towel all too fast. The season is not over.
It’s Dustin FN Pedroia… he’s not human. He’ll rub a little aloe on it and be back after the All Star Break ;-) He’s a superhero. I’m going on line right now to put my last All Star Votes in for Pedey. Now we’ll see who can step up on this team. Youk’ll be there. Beltre, VMart, Ortiz….Let’s go.
It's good being otimistic and all but you have to be realistic
Beltre is playing WAY over his head (.377 BABIP)
Buchholz is outperforming his peripherals
At the begining of the season that was a 95 wins true talent level team but with the loss of Ellsbury, Cameron playing hurt and Beckett out for 2 months and now PD and remember that we’re playing in The AL East! I mean we need a miracle to be in the race by mid August!

Yeh, thanks. I know. That's why I had the wink ;-) in there.
I complained when I saw McDonald in the line up batting in the two hole……
and he just went yard in his first at bat. It’s a crazy game.
We needed a miracle to be in the race now considering our poor start. Players kicked in and did their part. For every player we’ve had over performing their peripherals we’ve had some under performing or off the field completely. Pedrioa is a big loss but he’s only one man and as we’ve shown this year, it takes more than just the loss or gain of a single man to sink this team.

That’s not to say these injury losses won’t start adding up but as long as players like Nava and McDonald chip in and perform over their heads when given the chance, they’ve really made up the difference well.

where is Lowrie is he available anytime soon?
When does he return? How long does mono take for recovery? Or, does he have a serious conditon and the Sox are respecting his privacy? I did read he is hitting off a tee. Or, will he return just to have a yeast infection and cramps sideline him?
