Does he have any shot?

For a guy who hit 26 HRs in 2007, he’s only OPSing around .790 right now. He has the ability to kill minor league hitting, but that comes with being 27 years old, but he doesn’t do it too often. I think he’s more of a minor league depth guy now.

OK thanks
He seemed like a fan favorite in Pawtucket

He was in Portland too, hard to dislike a guy named Bubba who can hit the ball into the stratosphere when he tries hard enough. Same with Iggy Suarez, we loved that guy.

I guess it's a good sign that Vitek is swinging the wood bar well.

Good things happen when Beltre is on his knees.

I’m liking the lines he’s putting up so far.

I'm still searching for any info on Yeiper Castillo's injury.

The Greenville Drive RHP went on the 7 day DL on 6/13 but I haven’t found anything in print as to the injury. If anyone lives near Greenville or knows any info, post when you can, if you would please.
Thanks.

Lars 2-4

Good to see some life there, the emotion of worry was quickly replacing the feeling of hope I had when seeing Lar’s stats.

Is there a reason that the young guys seem to be striking out at a much higher rate than anybody else?

For just that reason, they’re younger. They haven’t developed the discipline yet to know what to swing at and what not to. Some of the pitchers they face are also more advanced, things even out more in the upper levels.

Yup

That’s pretty much par-for-the-course, especially since the Sox like to challenge their guys age-wise.

What position has Vitek been playing?

He seems to be starting off on a tear with the bat, but a lot of errors already if I’m remembering correctly. Any idea if these are fielding/throwing or what type they are? Does anyone pay close enough attention to Lowell for that?

by wolf9309 on Jun 25, 2010 9:25 AM EDT reply actions

I believe 3B

Which is a position they think he’s best suited for, but he’s raw at.

He’s got a great arm, but I guess some of the errors are indeed throwing errors. He played 2B during his junior year, but that was mostly to preserve his arm since he also pitched for Ball State. He’ll need lots of reps at 3B to really hone his fielding skills.

He made a few errors at 3B the game I went to.

Yeah, he's still raw at 3B

They seem to like him there long-term, they’ll try and give him lots of reps wherever he goes.

I hope so.

His offensive potential would be enticing in CF.

Michael Young 2.0 if all goes right.

You’ve just made him Sandy’s favorite prospect if he ever reads this.

Also, very Small Sample Size

But I’m really enjoying what I’m seeing out of Brandon Jacobs so far this season. I like his potential at the plate and have read some positive things about his defense.

Jacobs impressed me the Spinners game I went to.
He has a good future
