It is obvious Papelbon is in decline. His ERA, WHIP, Stressfull innings, Walks, and FB% have gone up the last three years.
Time to move on from him this offseason.

RE:
I like how you throw “stressful innings” in the middle like it’s a stat.

I just figure it has to be a factor in his decline

Oh, it's very real
And it’s not the only stat that’s headed in the wrong direction.
While his Hard Stares Per Inning stat is holding steady, his Teammate Back Patting Index % has fallen to dangerously low levels and his Fist-Pumps After Wicked Awesome Plays Per Game is at an all-time low for him.

slightly off topic
ever watch him warm up in the bullpen? I think it’s hilarious. He’ll throw like 3 pitches and spend like 10 minutes working on his stare
I was at a spring training game a few years ago and was right next to the Sox dugout. Papelbon just stared straight at me for like an hour. Creepy.

Stressful innings is kind of confusing.
Its innings where you throw 20 pitches or more with men on base. I think the stat was made for DiceK

How do you feel about including Ryan Shealy?
Obviously not really a prospect, but probably one of the guys in Pawtucket most likely to see Boston time this summer.
Im not a huge fan of him. I think its hurting Lars Anderson’s confidence.
Or it might mean the Sox dont have much confidence in him.

I think that is pretty much what it means
With Lowell on his way out, they need someone who will be able to play backup at first if someone gets hurt. Clearly, they don’t think that’s Lars yet.
Shealy also gives the Sox depth in the event of a trade.
Come the trade deadline, teams will be asking for our prospects with the highest ceiling. Anderson and Rizzo’s names are going to come up. If we want a high end reliever, one of these two may be a key piece in a big trade. The Sox will need to decide which one they value the most. They both have moved up a level this year and neither has help himself much in the last month, value wise.
Shealy and Bates are our post prospect Youk insurance today with Lowell fading out of the picture and VMart doing most of the catching. McGuiness would seem to back up Anderson and Rizzo long term.
