Daisuke Matsuzaka Placed on Disabled List
Daisuke Matsuzaka was a late scratch before todays game, and instead of starting, was placed on the disabled list with a right forearm strain.
No word on who will take over Daisuke's spot in the rotation. With Beckett still a ways from returning, the Sox' only possible spot starters are Michael Bowden, who hasn't seen any real success in the majors, and Boof Bonser, who hasn't really given any reason to think he can get major league outs this year either. For today, Dustin Richardson has been called up from Pawtucket.
As for Daisuke, well...the disappointment just continues for the $100 million man. Just when it looked like the Sox might be putting together a viable back-of-the-rotation, he's back on the DL (where he has spent most of the last few years).

What A Shock!!!
The Rice Paper Man does it again. Who is he going to blame this time? The coach? The training methods? The climate? The lack of long throws between starts? The sticky rice in the sushi? Jupiter or some other planet? Please, please, please get rid of this walking injury machine, I’ll pony up twenty dollars to start things off. Also, any other creative excuses out there?

On the other hand...
…shall we discuss the sheer awesomeness that is Daniel Nava hitting a grand slam in his first major league plate appearance?
First major league pitch.
That’s the most impressive part.
If I was your math homework I'd be really hard and you'd be doing me on your desk.
I'm a 7 WAR player in bed.

this seems ridiculous to me
he has a strain and they immediately DL him… the next day he says he feels completely fine, they don’t do any MRIs or anything, so they believe him. Why did they pull the trigger so quick? They could have waited a couple of days and then retroactively DLed him if he wasn’t improved. Our pen was certainly getting work (as a result of Dice-K missing this start), but it’s not like they needed Richardson THAT desperately. I find this very confusing.
