Derrik Gibson: 0-4, K
Chris McGuiness: 0-3, BB, 2 K
Michael Almanzar: 0-3, K

Kendal Volz: 5 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 4 K

Hope Middlebrooks doesn't get called up too quick

I was hoping to see him at the Futures at Fenway game.

Salem now has the most HR in the Carolina League.

Not much room for any of them to move up a level. You think we’ll see moves come the end of June?

Note that Willmington Park is a NOTORIOUS pitcher park

I don’t think that Tejada will get a promotion: No BBs and lots of Ks
Lavarnway too: Needs to work on his catching skills
Rizzo: Absolutly
WMB: I think they want him to continue to dominate and work on his contact skills
FedEx: I think he’ll get the promotion

Westmoreland recently asked his son how he was feeling, and the response the father received didn't surprise him. "I'm going to be in Portland next year," Ryan said.

Few notes about the Sea Dogs game

Kelly was sitting 90-92 mph range all night (Note to Ben: Even from the stretch)
His Change up was really filthy (didn’t counted them but lots of swing-and-miss)
He gave a 2B and a HR to Dominic Brown who’s the top prospect in the Phillies system (17th BA top prospect and the reason the Phillies will not resign Wreth) and yes even Brown whiffed on Kelly CH early in the count that led to the 2B: a flyball misplayed by LFer Chiang
Exposito 2 2B where also cheapies according to Antonnelis (Sea Dogs Broadcaster): They were hit straight at the OFers who have made awkward plays (didn’t move till the last minute)
Iglesias made a bad bad fielding error on slow grounder and killed a rally by swinging at the second pitch to GIDP with bases loaded, one out in the 4th inning and he also GIDP in the 2nd :(

Westmoreland recently asked his son how he was feeling, and the response the father received didn't surprise him. "I'm going to be in Portland next year," Ryan said.

Forgot about the Curveball

He got a K on Galvis when he swinged at one in the dirt but apparently it wasn’t working for him tonight (I was hearing breaking ball in the dirt 3 or 4 times tonight)

Like the Salem walk-a-palooza even more than the laser show.

Power? Nice.
Discipline? Outstanding.

Power AND discipline? SWEEEEEEEET.

Nice site right here

Check out the Casey Kelly postgame interview.

One of the interviewers says to Kelly, “You topped out at about 93-94 tonight.”

Thanks for the link Frederick

I was surprised hearing the 94 mph figure although Antonnelis don’t give the velocity on every FB thrown but I’m positive that the CH was working for him better than the CB.

Thanks for the 90-92 reading, radio

The 93-94 may be off, who knows……it may have been the stadium gun or a scout’s gun…..

Is Kelly’s changeup really a splitter……it is in the mid-80s, right…..

Everyone calls it a change (including Kelly, I believe)....

But I think I heard somewhere that he uses a split-grip…..and there’s barely any separation in velo b/w CU and FB.

I guess it doesn’t matter, so long that it’s an effective pitch.

Anyway, there isn’t much disparity b/w Lester and Beckett’s heater and change.
