Van Every traded to Pirates for catcher Josue Peley
According to MLB.com's Jennifer Langosch, via MLBTradeRumors.com, The Sox have traded Jonathan Van Every back to the Pirates for Low A catcher Josue Peley. Peley, who is 22 and playing A ball, was a 2B converted into a catcher by the Pirates. He has had very little success in pro ball except in throwing runners out, and doesn't look like he is or ever will be more than depth for the minor league system.

well he got some time in the majors with the Red Sox this way
think of it as an intermission from his AAA Pirates time. I’m pretty sure he didn’t think it was going to be long term.
the funny thing about this
is that I don’t think it’s been announced which PTBNL we traded the pirates to GET Van Every in the first place.
It may be Van Every himself
Figure the Sox would have to throw in some cash for that to work, especially considering they ended up getting another player now.
So when the Sox need an OF in July
We’ll trade for him again?

Why?
I don’t understand this at all. Trading a decent AAA OF with big league experience for a low A level C with very little chance of promotion? Huh???
probably means that they're promoting Kalish soon, I would think
so they don’t have space for him at AAA
i guess

Hey, weird question: Since there is no Red Sox game today, maybe a Pawsox game open thread?

Josue Peley?
Why? Do we need a new Wally the Monster?
I don't get this at all.
I don’t really understand the full workings of moving up and down the pro-ladder, I suppose, but I have no idea why this guy would have any value over JVE.
