Celtics Beat Magic, Advance to NBA Finals
Yes, this is a Red Sox blog, but we need to give some love to that game with the hoops.
The Boston Celtics dominated the Magic tonight in Game 6 to advance themselves to the NBA Finals for the second time in three years.
Congratulations to the Celtics and their fans. For more, go visit the great Celtics blog known as -- what else? -- Celtics Blog.
(At least one Boston team looked good tonight...)

Big and/or fast is all you need in NBA and NFL
The best basketball player ever couldnt even cut it in the minors of baseball.
And the best minor league player could play basketball? Entirely different skillsets.
But the big/fast thing? Way off target. Big linemen get outplayed by smaller linemen all the time. A fast wide receiver can still be shut down by a physical corner who stuffs him at the line. And 7-foot tall Dwight Howard is basically useless outside the circle, allowing crafty big men to make him go to his left and throw up bad shots because he has nothing outside of his physical gifts (say what you want about him dropping X points these last few games—those were all caused by Jameer Nelson breaking down the defense. Dwight Howard is the one superstar most vulnerable to being taken out of a game by a good 1-on-1 defender who’s willing to keep a body on him). Paul Pierce isn’t the biggest, or the fastest, but he’s one of the most skilled. That’s how he gets the job done.
Meanwhile, in baseball, you’ve got guys who rely almost exclusively on heat, or power, or speed. Every game has its physical freaks and its wily veterans. Every game requires a ridiculous amount of talent.

And now, hours later, I realize you're referencing Jordan
Though the argument remains. Send any of the greats to the D-League and they’d likely get their asses well-and-truly kicked.

Hard to say how Jordan would have developed as a baseball player if that was the sport he focused on through college etc.
I’m pretty sure he did not even play baseball for UNC right? It’s a pointless argument.
Yup. Stupid argument.

I don't give a rat's ass about basketball
so this does little to make me feel better. :(
Galactus does as he pleases. Because Galactus is drunk.

Keep it to myself?
Hmmmmm. How about no.
How about, “If you wanna pop a boner for the Celtic, follow the link that Mr. Booth provided and wave it around over there, in the meantime I’ll use this Red Sox blog to give my feelings on how this post effects my thoughts on the Red Sox game.”
How about that?

Then take your own advice and post about the Sox only then...
And don’t say “I don’t give a rats ass about basketball so this does little to make me feel better . :(”
Show some respect most people here are fans of all the boston sports teams and not just one.
WE DON’T GIVE A SHIT THAT YOU DON’T CARE ABOUT BASKETBALL AND IT DIDN’T MAKE YOU FEEL ANY BETTER!
There are other people on this blog other than you.
That WAS a post about the Sox
I didn’t feel good about the Sox getting shit-canned. Mr. Booth posted, and I quote:
(At least one Boston team looked good tonight…)
So I mentioned that it didn’t do anything to make me feel better about it. Do you see how it all comes together now?
Listen. If I was forced to choose an NBA team as a “favourite”, I’d probably choose the Celtics. I’d be nice if they beat LA.
But try not to get your panties in a knot when someone on a baseball blog doesn’t get completely bat-shit happy over a basketball game.
There are other people on this blog other than you.
Time to take your own advice, Sparky. There are other people on this blog besides you. So you don’t get the authority to tell folks to keep things to themselves just cuz you don’t want to hear it.
I don’t care for basketball. I didn’t say “keep that crap offa this site” or “shut the hell up about basketball bullshit” or anything like that.
I said it didn’t make me feel better about losing to the Royals.
Too @#$%ing bad if you don’t like it. I think it’s really swell that you’re so jazzed about the basketball game.
