Wow.
The Bulls took Bonser out behind the woodshed in the first game and TJ Large wasn’t ready to bail him out either. It’s been 15 months since they worked on Bonser’s shoulder.
Ooch.

at least Bonser is proving how sucky he is in AAA
unlike Smoltz last year, who got to prove it with the big league club.
Hopefully Bonser gets released before he pulls a Smoltz

He doesn't have the star power smoltz does
no reason I can see they won’t DFA him rather than put him on the roster if he’s performing like that at AAA
Id bring up Doubront before this bum
in a heartbeat. Richardson as well. Bonser is trash. Doubront and Richardson are the future.

Bonser signed for $650k with the chance to make the team out of spring training.
Didn’t happen and may never happen. Sometimes after having work done on the shoulder, the pitcher completely loses his confidence and goes dead in the water.
If he’s lost it, then DFA, if he’s maybe still a bit hurt then DL him and send him to extended spring training to work on his arm and his head.
Right now, if we need a spot on the 40 man roster, you know who gets DFA’d.
If DFA’d, he would most likely go unclaimed and may then be sent to Ft Myers to continue the rehab and not be on the 40 man if he doesn’t retire first.
Robert Manual could be a fit for the open 40 man spot. Then we could bring him up for a chance to improve our bullpen.
Bullpen options on the 40 man today include:
Mike Bowden
Dustin Richardson
Scott Atchison
Ramon A. Ramirez
Fabio Castro
Felix Doubront
Boof Bonser
If you had to pick one pitcher to move up this weekend, who would you go with?
agree

if they really wanted Manuel, they could anyways
there is one spot open on the 40 man at the moment. Now presumably, they’re just saving that spot for Lowrie when he gets back, but that appears to still be a while, and I’m sure they’d have some pitcher they’d be willing to DFA by then. Boof does seem as good a candidate as any for a DFA.
That open spot on the 40 man
could also be used if a pitcher on another team gets DFA’d and we want to take a quick chance on him. Send Atchison back down off the 25 man and take a quick look at whoever it may be to try to improve this bullpen.
Or they could add Manual right now, but they may like the little bit of flexibility the open spot adds. It won’t be kept open to long.
Man, I hope Cameron comes back up to the Red Sox soon.
I’m so tired of wincing everytime the ball is out to the LF and CF. Having Ells out their in CF reassures me a bit (over Hall & DMac) but I’d much rather have Ells back in LF where he belongs and Cameron patrolling CF again.
There's varying reports of him coming back today.
But they tend to cite CSN NE, which only seems to have an article saying “He’ll probably be in Tampa today, activated tomorrow!”
