If you go by useless stats like WAR and UZR,
then I can’t. But you cannot judge defense on stats. I don’t care what kind of formulas they come up with, you can’t measure defense with a stat.
You can’t measure it perfectly but generally the numbers back up what you can see, Bay played visibly bad defense and the stats reflected that. And we can see during games that Darnell doesn’t play defense well, and then the stats back it up. Darnell just isn’t a good ball player. There isn’t a single stat, offensive or defensive that show he is any good.
Then there are the other factors, like being over 30 and having never played in more than 50 games in a season, that right there tells me he probably isn’t that good. Tell me, if he was so good why hasn’t he played more?

Darnell McDonald isn't backed up by stats

Darnell McDonald is so good at D that he is currently banned from checking in the NHL (not enough funds to continuously repair the boards every night), and if he fouls in the NBA, the unlucky player gets 50 free throws. This was not a problem in his brief NBA career, as none of his victims were left consious.
