Kendal Volz in Greenville this season:

2 BB, 31 SO in 36.1 innings.
Maybe ready for Salem if someone in Salem goes up to Portland for the Felix Doubront move last night.

No word on a Volz move yet.

Soxprospects.com has the skinny on a handful of moves on the farm.

Bates got on the list last year during his stint in Portland

When it looked like his prophecized HR power might emerge. It didn’t, really.

If you think Bowden isn’t, you’re crazy. He’s having a very rough start to the year, but it wasn’t 2 years ago that he was ranked as the #2 prospect in the organization.

Some guys are on the list because they’re a lot more likely to contribute significantly than others to the team. Thus the presence of a bunch of a few potential pen arms this year/6th starter types in Adam Mills/Kris Johnson, though both are awful so far.

Yeah but he isn’t in Portland any more. So is He considered a prospect or not?

Khoury's triple matters to the game.

But the game isn’t really the point. The minor league teams are an extension of the major league team—their actual existence as teams that win, lose, or draw is largely unimportant in the scheme of things. Consider how much should we care when teams are constantly reshuffled based on the successes of their players, mined for talent leaving behind the less impressive, making the best teams the ones filled with guys who, quite frankly, will never reach the majors.

The point of minor lines is to follow prospects, not to keep an eye on the record of Pawtucket, Portland, Salem, etc. in the hopes that one brings home a championship. Because there’s just not a lot of importance to if they do.

Im just a Pawsox fan too, and want them to win.

He did it so that Kelly wouldn't be all alone in having a horrible day at work.

He’s a people person.

Don't feel bad for Kelly

He ran into the unstoppable force that is Austin Romine.

Strikeouts are boring- Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.

As an intelligent Yankee Fan,

Is he the catcher of the future and Montero a DH/C/1B ?

Until we see what we really have in G. Sanchez and JR Murphy I definitely think so.

Romine’s body type would seem to be much better suited for the rigors of day to day catching than Montero’s. Don’t get me wrong, the “Jesus is a terrible catcher” meme is a little overblown, he’s been throwing guys out left and right, but he’s a big boy. If his bat is as good as advertised, I’d rather he not subject his knees to the wear and tear of crouching his 6’4" 230+ frame for 3 or 4 hours a day. Come 2012, a 70;30 split between Romine and Montero would be my ideal situation. Jesus only has to masquerade as a catcher until he’s 26 or 27, then Tex’s contract is up.

SoxProspects has new rankings up, by the way.

I pretty much agree with the top-5. Top-10 could use some re-arranging, maybe, but I can understand not wanting to bump Middlebrooks ridiculously high with just a month and a half of good play under his belt.

I agree with the rankings, but I think they did move Middlebrooks up too high
