Josh Beckett Hits the Disabled List

NEW YORK - MAY 18: Josh Beckett #19 of the Boston Red Sox leaves the game with an injury in the sixth inning against the New York Yankees on May 18, 2010 at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx borough of New York City. (Photo by Chris Trotman/Getty Images)

Not a huge surprise to me at least, but per Amalie Benjamin's Twitter, Josh Beckett is hitting the DL and the Sox have called up Joe Nelson from AAA to take his spot on the 25-man roster.

Great!

Give the guy a long term juicy contract, and he disappears from the radar for how long?? Is there any performance requirements in this guy’s new contract or for that matter in any of these fat contracts, or is that outside the imagination of baseball management??

they had medical language in his last one I believe

haven’t heard about any in this one, but I do believe the contract is insured. Performance requirements really kind of don’t work with a guaranteed contract, and that’s just how it’s done.

He's looked great as well.

Hopefully this carries over, and he can carry this team for a while, since Beckett seemingly cannot as of late.
