give it time. All batters go through slumps and streaks.
You get to the streaks by enduring the slumps. You don’t get to them by sitting them down because they then don’t get the ABs needed to work through them.
What is important is how it all adds up by the end of the year. And Victor has been the second best hitting catcher in the AL over the last few years and is very dependable on offense. Just like with Papi and Drew, give it time and he’ll get hot. And probably right around the time one of our other hitters slumps. Because all hitters slump a few times each year.
Varitek has shown in the last few years that he simply can’t take the wear and tear of being the everyday C any more. Lets leave him in his current role and enjoy his higher productivity, OK? Don’t ruin it by putting him in everyday and watch him degenerate back to a .230 hitter with no power.

I have to admit I blame the fact that we brought Oki out instead of MDC to start the 8th.
the matchups were just miserable right off the bat.
I generally give Terry all the props, but this one doesn’t make a lot of sense.
Of course, if Bard was not used last night, he probably would have been out there.

Our pen is okay.
Paps has rediscovered his secondary pitches, and Bard should be solid. RamRam and Oki should be better. With starting pitching as good (on paper) as we have, the pen shouldn’t be a huge concern.

NO reason to send him. He was out easily.
