Portland manager Arnie Beyeler on Iglesias
“He’s learning the strike zone and getting more disciplined, so it’s starting to pay off for him,” Beyeler said. “He’s laying off tough pitches and hitting the ball hard, so things have been falling in for him.”
Can I say Yay?
Linkagement
Westmoreland recently asked his son how he was feeling, and the response the father received didn't surprise him. "I'm going to be in Portland next year," Ryan said.
If this kid Kalish keeps raking
What’s the timetable on his major debut? what about Lars? Iglesias? etc.
umm
Lars- Could be this year actually.
Kalish- Late 2011
Iglesias- will get a cup of coffee this year at September Call Ups, but will be here to stay in 2012.
Lars is most likely a September call-up at best.
I was surprised to see the jump to AAA so soon. I was expecting an arrival sometime in 2012 before the year began. With the move to AAA, maybe September, but in all likelihood next year.

That IF defense in Portland is sexy!
Following the successful pickoff play — signaled by Rizzo, a Class A teammate of Exposito last season — third baseman Yamaico Navarro got the third out with a charging barehand pickup of a slow bouncer and a strong throw to Rizzo.
Beyeler on Iglesias D:
The biggest thing he did tonight was he made a couple stellar defensive play that minimized some innings, and that’s not in the box score. It’s stuff like that — his ability on plays he makes you just don’t see every night — that he brings to the table every night
Fife and Kelly must be delighted! Speaking of the Fife; he looks like he’s adjusting to AA hitters:
Fife’s first 85 BFP: 12 K, 10 BB
Last 44 BFP: 11 K, 1 BB.
Keep an eye on him my friends.

There's a lot to like in our farm system.
Let’s hope some of them make it up to Fenway soon—and not just for the Futures game!

Stop trolling!

How is this trolling if I am a Red Sox fan?

Being a Red Sox fan doesn't mean that you can bad mouth YOUR team prospect!
You like Aaron Bates? Fine, I think we all know that by now and quite frankly it’s a very very poor choice so STOP but don’t dare to throw your BS at a real prospect or any prospect by that matter!
This site is about level headed opinions: You think Lars will be a bust? Explain why, use numbers, scouting reports…DATA!!! Make a post and explain to us why we should think that Bates is the next coming of Albert Pujols but enough of your " I saw him in ST and he looked good to me" because you are not a scout!

Let’s be honest here, if you watched JD Drew play and weren’t looking at stats it would be hard to have a favorable opinion of him, but we know from the stats that Drew is actually an excellent right fielder and there are only a couple other players I would rather have instead of him, maybe Anderson is the same way, but we have the stats and the stats are showing that the kid can play at the level we thought he could when we drafted him. He had nerves and injuries last year and so far this year he has shown that was an anomaly. When you saw him in ST was it major or minor league ST because that could make a huge difference as to how he would look.

In the past I believe you claimed you were a big Bates fan primarily because you saw his MLB debut...
Really though, I think a lot of people find it annoying to see you keep cheering AGAINST specific Red Sox prospects… If it was a guy killing the MLB team that would be different. These are prospects. Hard to figure out what could annoy you about them.

You:
I saw his major league debut last year and he looked pretty good. I’ve had an interest in him since, and I have followed his minor league careeer.http://www.minorleagueball.com/2010/4/21/1434757/4-21-milb-discussion#35402811
Dude… in all seriousness, Aaron Bates is a pretty terrible ballplayer. He’s a 1B – he can’t play LF in the majors… and the fact they don’t care about shoving him there now should give you some idea what the org. thinks of his future. He’s now batting .231/.355/.373. That’s a .730 OPS from a 26 year old in AAA who has little to no defensive value. What did he hit last year? .268/.337/391.
Its nice you saw his debut, and for all I know Aaron Bates is the nicest guy in the world… bottom line, you probably saw the only MLB ABs he’s ever going to get. He’s not good at baseball and you need to recognize that. Lars Anderson could probably get a prosthetic leg and still hit better than Bates. The minute something better comes along (who has options left like Bates does – the one thing that recommends him) Aaron Bates will be removed from the 40 man. I say “removed from the 40 man” and not “released” because in all likelihood no one is going to claim him and he’ll stay in the organization.

Gut feeling or no.
I have a gut feeling that the Orioles will not win the World Series would be accurate.
I have a gut feeling one of the top 100 prospects in baseball will never amount to anything, is just bs.
Lars is in my OPINION the next coming of a Adam LaRoche type, but with more power. I personally find Adam a great player, shame we traded him for Casey Kotchman.
Lars Anderson is no doubt among the premier prospects on this team, along with Casey Kelly and Ryan Kalish. This is why THEIR names pop up in trade rumors.
I hope we rid ourselves of Aaron Bates, I like him as a player, but he does not have any future with the Sox. With a stacked infield composing of Rizzo, Iglesias, Almazar, and Anderson, he will not play infield. With our outfield of Westmoreland (when he comes back), Kalish, and Lin (Sleeper Alert), he won’t play there. So where WILL he play? I don’t know, but it WON’T be with the Boston Red Sox.
