CF LF OF conumdrum

Ellisbury, Cameron, Hermida, Macdonald, Van Every. 2 spots 5 players. 1 All-Star, 3 young players with upside, 1 solid steady vet. Out of the 5 I feel they should be ranked as follows:

1. Ellisbury, 2.Hermida, 3.Cameron-Macdonald, 4.Van Every.

I like Mike. He is a consummate professional and a plus defender still in his advanced years of experience. Is that enough to supplant one of the MLB fastest players and 2 1st round picks. I would think not. I have to admit that signing of Cameron was a head scratcher of the off season.

Hermida and Macdonald are finally showing the promise of there draft status. I see at least one sticking with this team for the foreseeable future. Hermida=Ortiz (coming from MN in 2003)

Here is what I propose. Trade either Cameron or Drew (or both) to Seattle for there CF position currently unoccupied by Bradley. A player to be named or a draft pick (or both) in according to what they want. If Cameron is traded move Ellisbury to his natural position in CF and Start Hermida in LF. If Drew is gone then move Ellisbury to RF (bigger then most CF) and let Hermida again start in LF. If both then Ellisbury in CF, Hermida in LF and Macdonald in RF.

Except when Papi when down with his wrist injury in June 08(the start of David's decline) JD has really not produced much in his time here. Yes the HR in the playoffs was worth his contract; however I think we need more production out of him or his position. With one year left on his contract he may not be moveable unless we pick up a chunk of the salary. I think that would be worth it.

I don't mention Van Every because at this time he is at best a 4th OF. He may in the long term be more then that, but right now........

it is what it is, but it's not what it seems- Brandon Spikes MLB NEP
