Minor Lines 5/10/10: Upward Mobility, Downward Spiral
So, the big news of the day is that Anthony Rizzo is on the move to Portland! Yay Tony!
The other news is that Mike Cameron is rehabbing in Pawtucket, and that the minor league teams got swept, ending a 4-game winning streak and giving the Salem Sox their first 3-game streak of the season. Oh no!
Pawtucket L 2-3
Mike Cameron: 1-3, 2B, BB, K
-Finally on the comeback trail.
Josh Reddick: 1-4, K
Daniel Nava: 1-4, 2 K
Lars Anderson: 1-3, 2B, BB, 2 K
Jorge Jimenez: 0-2, 2 BB
Sadly typcial Kalish day after the jump.
Portland L 5-7
Box Score
There goes a 4-game winning streak.
Che-Hsuan Lin: 2-3, 2 BB, K, CS
Ryan Kalish: 1-5, K
Luis Exposito: 0-4
Yamaico Navarro: 1-5, 2 K
Jose Iglesias: 4-4, 2B
-Aaand he's hitting .308
Jason Place: 0-4, 2 K
Casey Kelly: 5 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 7 K
-The B-Mets are the only team to really give Kelly problems so far. Big-offense team, lots of AAAA-type depth. The strikeouts are pretty impressive all things considered. Hit 93 with the FB again.
Salem L 2-7
Box Score
OK, now it really is a losing streak. The bats and arms are taking turns falling flat...
Pete Hissey: 0-4, K
Tim Federowicz: 0-3, BB
Ryan Lavarnway: 0-3, BB
Will Middlebrooks: 2-4, 2B
-If there was one guy I was hoping wouldn't be joining the slump, he'd be it. Good to see a K-free day after the hat trick on Sunday.
Oscar Tejeda: 1-4, K
Ryan Dent: 1-4, 3B, K
Stolmy Pimentel: 4 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
-Really struggling to find any consistency.
Greenville L 0-3
Derrik Gibson: 0-4
Chris McGuiness: 1-4, 2 K
-Could he be replacing Rizzo?
Michael Almanzar: 0-4, 3 K
Jeremy Hazelbaker: 0-2, SB
-Just got nothing going since his DL trip.
Reymond Fuentes: 1-3, 2 SB
Kendal Volz: 4.1 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 2 HR
-Ick. First base on balls of the year, and it comes in an ugly game.

Great test for Mr. Rizzo. Congratulations.
We will now see if he can make this large step forward a success.
All the best to Anthony Rizzo on his adventure.
My belief is he will become a champion.
Go Sox.

Las hits again.
He must have a small hitting streak with Pawtucket already.
Welcome to AA T!
Now go there and do some damage Big Boy!

Westmoreland recently asked his son how he was feeling, and the response the father received didn't surprise him. "I'm going to be in Portland next year," Ryan said.

like how Chris Moltisanti and Paulie Walnuts referred to Tony Soprano? I like it!

he's playing center tonight and then wednesday coming up to Boston, where they'll re-evaluate him
so sounds like they’re thinking he’ll be in the lineup friday, barring any setbacks in rehab
When Cameron comes up (Friday?)
Van Every goes down with the option he has remaining. The next move will be the hard one to make: Ellsbury comes up and who goes down or who is DFA’d? Mc Lovin?
" Play Ball "
first looks like I was wrong
Francona is now sounding like Cam probably won’t be going to detroit. I probably misinterpreted. Yeah, definitely macdonald. He’s gotten over his initial hotness and is back down to playing at AAA level.
McLovin will never clear waivers.
And he’ll get the “standing O” at Fenway for pulling his weight when we really needed it.
" Play Ball "
yeah it's true he probably won't clear waivers
but he also probably won’t stick long with whatever club takes him
