Game Two Ramblings

Come on now Red SoxNation, you didn't actually believe that the Red Sox would go undefeated this season?  With game two in the books, the Red Sox turn to their new shiny free-agent John Lackey to see if he can stop their one-game losing streak.  In all seriousness, a couple of points about last night's game.

  • 1. Let's not dissect the strike zone given by Angel Hernandez that led to the walk by Okajima. There will be an ebb and flow to the calls the Red Sox get and tonight it did not go their way. Some other night it will go in their favor so let's relax.
  • 2. Good to see Victor displays the long ball with his two-run shot. In 56 games last year with the Sox he hit 8 home runs, if you stretch that out a full season it equates to around 25 home runs. That would be the most home runs by a Red Sox catcher since Varitek hit 25 in 2003.
  • 3. It would be nice to see Lester jump out of the gate in April just once. ERA in April 2009 was 6.76, 2010 equals 7.20.
  • 4. Can someone tell Big Papi that Spring Training has ended and that we need for him to hit. I know that it is early but 0-7 is not resting the hearts of Red Sox Nation that he is going to bounce back this year.
  • 5. Expect many web-gems this year from Beltre. Going 2-4 and looking comfortable at the plate so far through two games, Priceless.
  • 6. After a horrible ending to the 2009 season, good to see Delcarman bounce back. He is a big part to the success of this bullpen.
  • 7. Red Sox helped in victory Sunday night by a bad throwing error and lose by the result of one last night. Funny how baseball is cyclical.
  • 8. Good to see Beckett and Lester hold Jeter, Teixeira, Johnson, and A-Roid to a combined 4-34.
  • 9. Where have you gone J.D. Drew?
  • 10. Let's not scream for Alex Gonzalez to be traded back to the Red Sox to shore up the Short stop position just yet. It's one game, one error, and Marco needs an adjustment period.
