Community Projections 2010: John Lackey
Our second-to-last community projection is for the Red Sox's new ace ... that pitches third in the rotation.
Lackey will be a very interesting pitcher to watch. He's pitching in the more difficult AL East, so how will that effect his numbers? Will being the No. 3 pitcher in the rotation change his performance at all? Will the competition with the other aces push Lackey to put up even better numbers?

Seriously Randy
How could you include W-L into the predictions and NOT Innings Pitched?
"That was a lot of fun… You just keep pounding balls into the gap. The one thing you don’t want to do is hit a home run. That’s a rally-killer." Jeff Francoeur
of course his career FB %
is .1% higher than Beckett’s. And .3% higher than Lester’s.
When I think of flyball pitcher, I think of someone like Ted Lilly, whose FB % is nearly 10% higher than Lackey.

I like the stuff he showed this spring. I see a guy coming into the season with a lot of focus. And he’s a bulldog. I don’t think he’ll be lights out dominant from an ERA perspective, but Lackey will keep us in a ton of games and get a lot of wins as a consequence.
