Ok, this guy definitely isn't worth his own post...
Red Sox sign speedy 17-yr-old Dominican OF Roberto Rosario for $150K. A top performer in upstart Dominican Prospect League

I just meant there's close to no info about him out there.
The DPL hasn’t even been around that long and there’s a big fuss over it right now b/c of what Sandy Alderson is doing in the D.R..
I’m very glad to see us so aggressive in international scouting. Wonder how much of this is the new scouting director… I don’t think McLeod personally did that much international stuff. Thought Shipley was in charge of intl. stuff.

Trying to stay a step ahead. And some people trash talk Theo and Co.
He may come to Ft Myers for the spring and work with the Gulf Coast Rookies but I’d think at his age he ends up this summer in the Dominican Summer League.
Your thoughts?
" Play Ball "
I wouldn't be surprised if he just goes to instructional this year.
Very young.

I eagerly anticipate buying a viking helmet to wear with my Lars jersey when I head to Fenway in 2012.
I’m thinking something like this: http://www.buy.com/prod/deluxe-adult-viking-helmet/q/listingid/22025890/loc/64935/207923632.html

IMO
Ryan Kalish has been the most impressive prospect so far: Having an ISO of .250 with a 15\7 BB\K ratio is as good as it gets!
Westmoreland recently asked his son how he was feeling, and the response the father received didn't surprise him. "I'm going to be in Portland next year," Ryan said.
Not a good day for Richardson's control
which is unfortunate, as I don’t want Embree to be in Boston for a terribly long time.
Some of the writers seem to be under the impression either he or maybe Scheoneweis (my contribution there) will be gone to make room for Dice K.

yeah that seems most likely
otherwise we’d just have too many bad lefties in our pen. I was just kinda assuming Schoeneweis, but yeah it could be him.
He's ripping the cover off of the ball
Which is odd compared to his past stats….yet he just turned 20 and it could be a developmental thing. Hopefully he turned the corner from “toolsy” to “ballplayer”
Well, he's at 2B now.
and he’s not walking.
I think its a somewhat legit development.

Oscar, Lars and Ryan
Tejeda (Salem) OBP – 0.450 SLG – 0.694 HR – 5
Anderson (Portland) OBP – 0.408 SLG – 0.677 HR – 5
Ryan Lavarnway (Salem) OBP – 0.416 SLG – 0.690 HR – 6
BABIP - GB%
Tejeda: .431 – 47.4%
Anderson: .415 – 25%
Lavarnway: .377 – 47.5%
Basically, I think Tejeda’s in completely unsustainable, while Lavarnway might run into a little Lars trouble down the line if he doesn’t start putting it in the air. Lars is looking the best of the 3, really, and while I know not to trust MiLB LD rates (22.9, for the record), simply putting the ball in the air a bunch is very, very good, and reports say he’s lacing liners like nobody’s business.

Just anecdotally, from Twitter
Lars has apparently missed a few more HRs by lining balls hard off the OF walls.
That’s a really good sign in my book.

nice detail, thanks
it will be interesting to see how well Lars comes back from a poor year… so far, so good

Lavarnway has had a few looooooong outs or doubles too, for what it's worth.
Just from listening to the radio broadcasts. On the other hand, I also seem to hear him swinging and missing a ton…
Oh, and all of Lars’ singles last night were from balls hit in the air.

Were you listening?
Love to get the lowdown on that stolen base. Against a LHP, no less!
Delayed steal because the defense was sleeping and not holding him…?

I love looking athe Sea Dogs
To think within a couple of years we could see Iglesias, Lars, Kelly, Kalish, Doubront, and Exposito as possible Sox players/starters. I’m really hoping they all arrive at the same time.
