How Can We Improve Open Threads?
Dear OTM'ers,
For every game of the season we have open threads where you can chat the game up and give your thoughts. It's a great area to toss out ideas and random banter -- it's like a virtual barroom.
But we're always trying to make them better. What would you like to see in open threads to make them better?
We always include the starting pitchers and the lineups, but what else would you like to see? Would you like to see historical information between the teams, season breakdown, splits, etc.? Whatever you'd like to see, we'll try to include.
So drop a comment and let us know what you want to see. We want to encourage more comments and discussion, so whatever that entails, we want to do.

I did my first Bruins Open Thread last night and it was very fun. I’m looking foward to doing Open Threads at OTM for the first time! If I see anything Sunday night I’ll let you know.

I can't remember...
Do you provide a link to “the enemy’s” SB Nation page? I’ve always thought that was a good idea.

ACTUALLY, advanced metrics show that that wasn't "premature".

We did occassionally
We can make that a staple, though.

Forums are something that SBN would have to implant
And that would certainly take some time.

This was brought up once a while ago.
My feeling on the subject is that having a forum lowers the quality of fan content and conversation on the main page (see: Celticsblog. The Editorials run just fine, but the fanposts are always flooded with reactionary drivel while the better conversation hides away on the forums) and discourages new members from posting.
That’s my take, anyways.

I agree with those points...
but think that forums have other positives to them, but those points you made are more then enough to not have one.
And actually I'm a frequent poster on Celticsblog and I do see where some of these problems come up.
Nothing against CelticsBlog and it’s forums.
None at all
Great site, great forums, but oh the fanposts. Ick

There's also very limited discussion in the stories on Celticsblog.
A ton of comments, but few responses.

I second that

I would like to see refreshments provided for.
I think asking for an open bar is too much, but how about some “entertainment” between innings?

That would suffice, yes.

I'd be okay with that, too

Just want to say that I love the open thread format.
I really got into them over at Pats Pulpit last fall and really like that we are doing them here.
‘Wish CelticsBlog would get off the snide and buy into the concept too. They use the Forums for game threads instead, mostly, but I don’t like the way that works because of the pagination.
And I really appreciated all the ST game threads – for us folks stuck at work during the games those were great.
my 2 cents
