Digging the depth at firstbase.

Bates, Anderson, and Rizzo all getting comfortable at their level of play. One may very well be gone at the trade deadline. Who would you protect?
I’m a long term Rizzo guy.

Rizzo, then Lahs, then Bates

Given equal aptitudes, protect the younger guys first.

Bates isn't someone I'd long term plan around at all.

Very marginal.

In terms of ceiling I’d take Lars over Rizzo easy. Would be reluctant to move either at this point, but if I have to give up one its Rizzo.

I'll take Rizzo

Better defense, better contact skills, better splits and I like his mental toughness (a huge question mark when it comes to Lars)

Westmoreland recently asked his son how he was feeling, and the response the father received didn't surprise him. "I'm going to be in Portland next year," Ryan said.

And two years younger than Lars.

It is good to see Anderson get off to a solid start and also have some lift to the ball this year.
I was at Rizzo’s first spring training game call up in Jupiter against the Cardinals. He was at the top of the dugout step every single inning, like a kid in a candy store. Wide eyed and just loving every minute of his first taste with the big boys. Fun to watch. He hit line drives but right at Cardinal players. He’s fun to keep an eye on but I’m also real happy to see Anderson get hot early.

I know it's a bit premature but I have to post this

Welcome back Mr Anderson:

Westmoreland recently asked his son how he was feeling, and the response the father received didn't surprise him. "I'm going to be in Portland next year," Ryan said.

Nice day for Reddick

I hope he does something like that in Boston today. I just don’t want to see Hall out there again… maybe ever.

A question to our prospect experts

Jose Iglesias: Maybe its just coincidence but every time i see his Line he does quite well. Isnt he supposed to be an all glove guy with no bat?

by German Red Sox Fan on Apr 20, 2010 10:15 AM EDT reply actions

i don't think it was ever supposed to be no bat

it was supposed to be a major league ready glove with a bat that is not major league ready. But yes, he is crushing at AA. I think the biggest need for him now is to work on plate discipline.

by wolf9309 on Apr 20, 2010 11:03 AM EDT up reply actions

see my original understanding

was that his major league projection was supposed to be alex gonzalez with a better glove

by MikeAtBU on Apr 20, 2010 11:27 AM EDT up reply actions

His bat is MUCH better than initially expected.

Tremendous bat speed and a way better feel for hitting than was thought.

He looks awesome.
