Minor Lines 4/10/10: Greenville on the Run
Pawtucket Game 1 W 1-0
Box Score
Can you say no offense? Lines are less-than-pretty.
Josh Reddick: 0-3, A
-Not carrying the heat over from ST. But that assist was out by a mile.
Jorge Jimenez: 0-2, BB, 2 K
Aaron Bates: 1-2, BB, K
Daniel Nava: 0-2, K
Daisuke Matsuzaka: 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K
-2 HBP in the last inning ended up loading the bases, but otherwise he had great control and--gasp--attacked the strike zone!
4 more games after the jump!
Pawtucket Game 2 L 2-4
Box Score
Who's ready to watch Kris Johnson's career circle the drain?
Josh Reddick: 0-4, K, E
-Make that REALLY not carrying the heat over!
Mark Wagner: 0-3, K
Aaron Bates: 0-2, BB, 2 K
Daniel Nava: 1-2
Adam Mills: 4 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
Kris Johnson: 3 IP, 4 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 0 K
Portland L 1-4
Box Score
At least this time these guys got some hits. Had a bad case of the "Red Sox" though.
Che-Hsuan Lin: 2-2, 2 BB
-A fast start for a change. Just keep putting the bat on the ball.
Lars Anderson: 0-4, K
Luis Exposito: 1-4
Yamaico Navarro: 0-4, K
Jose Iglesias: 2-4, 2B
-If Jose keeps this up, his being underrated by the MSM that doesn't care enough about defense will be evened out by being overrated for having a high average.
Jason Place: 0-4
Kyle Weiland: 5 IP, 9 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 2 K
-FIP would like a word with you, Kyle.
Salem W 8-3
Tim Federowicz: 1-5, HR
Anthony Rizzo: 0-4, BB, K
Oscar Tejeda: 2-4, 2B, CS
Fabian Williamson: 5 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
Caleb Clay: 4 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
Greenville L 3-4
Box Score
Good running, bad running, either way a lot of running
Derrik Gibson: 1-3, BB, K, CS
Chris McGuiness: 0-3, BB
Shannon Wilkerson: 3-4, 2B, K, CS
Michael Almanzar: 0-4, 2 K
Reymond Fuentes: 1-3, 2B, BB, SB
Jeremy Hazelbaker: 1-3, 2B, BB, K, 2 SB
-Hazelbaker SB count: 5
Manny Rivera: 5 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 1 HR
-Let's hope his more esteemed counterpart can do better.

Pretty early to be saying either of those things.
Offense-wise, at least.

Another prospect that should be covered in the Minor Lines is Ryan Dent
I didn’t gave up on him yet: Good glove, nice speed. I think that he’s worth following.
Westmoreland recently asked his son how he was feeling, and the response the father received didn't surprise him. "I'm going to be in Portland next year," Ryan said.
I've totally given up there.
Only one of his 4 seasons since rookie ball can even be considered decent.
None-the-less, he shall be added. 2-8, 3B, BB to date.

Posted this in the yesterday's minor lines, more appropriate here:
Dice-K looked pretty good through 4, but shaky in the last inning. A walk and 2 HBP’s left the bases loaded, but a pop-up that Jimenez managed to catch in foul territory ended the inning before any runs could be scored. He was 89-91 from what I remember, some of his command was a bit off at times, but I don’t think he walked anyone until his last inning.
Reddick looked good in CF, but he wasn’t challenged by anything. He did make a great play where he threw out a runner going for 3B after tagging 2B. Cannon of an arm, no question the ball got there before the runner. Later in the game a runner was about to tag up at 2B but decided against it since Reddick had made the catch.
At the plate he didn’t look that bad, although he didn’t produce anything to show for it. He was hitting lead-off, and his first AB he took some high balls before eventually popping out on a 2-2 count I believe. I will say this, he didn’t swing at the first pitch in any AB, even though his next two AB’s had first-pitch strikes in them. He went 0-for, but it looked like he was at least trying to work the count a bit.
Brown, Bates, and Frandsen both got on base twice, they provided the bulk of today’s offense and it was Frandsen who scored the only (and winning) run.
Embree looked good against minor league players, I guess, but he wasn’t outstanding. Richardson pitched the last inning. He looked okay. He was a bit high at times, threw a very high WP and walked a left-handed batter on 4 straight pitches, but he closed the game and got a save so I guess it worked out for him. He definitely still needs seasoning though.
