Box Score
It's becoming apparent that there's a lot of speed on this team.
Derrik Gibson: 1-5, 2 K
Chris McGuiness: 3-4, BB, CS
Michael Almanzar: 0-4, BB, 2 K, E
Shannon Wilkerson: 1-4, 3B, SB
Reymond Fuentes: 2-4, 2 SB
Jeremy Hazelbaker: 1-3, BB, K, 2 SB, A
Ken Roque: 0-4, 3 K
-I can't believe I went with him instead of Hazelbaker. Why did I go with him instead of Hazelbaker?
Drake Britton: 4 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 4 BB, 3 K, E
-About what you expect for his first real start post Tommy John. The command will return with time.
Kendal Volz: 4 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 K
-If Volz hits his stride quickly, I'm not sure I'd expect him to stay down here for long, college pitcher that he was.

Nice day
Portland was facing Phillippe Aumont, too – so those aren’t cheapies. His stuff is nasty. Moves like hell.

Notes on Iglesias (I'll try to do this evrery one in a while as I follow this team)
He had the game last AB, worked the count to 3-2, fouled one pitch well inside then swigged at a slider in the dirt for the K.
If he can improve his plate discipline, we’ll have something very nice!
Westmoreland recently asked his son how he was feeling, and the response the father received didn't surprise him. "I'm going to be in Portland next year," Ryan said.
On Kalish "injury"
Portland Sea Dogs manager Arnie Beyeler said that, after a quick check of Ryan Kalish’s right shoulder, the outfielder should be okay. Kalish landed on the shoulder while diving for a ball in right field in the eighth inning Friday night. He came up holding his shoulder and had to leave the game.
Beyeler said it only appears to be “jammed a little.” Tests showed that the shoulder was still strong. Beyeler expects Kalish to be sore and to sit out at least one game.

Will be at Pawtucket today
Going to try and start a “Walk! Walk! Walk!” chant whenever Reddick is up to bat. Probably won’t go over well.

Sadly only got to see the first game
Cold wind was blowing in and girlfriend and I had started to huddle up by the 5th inning.
Dice-K looked pretty good through 4, but shaky in the last inning. A walk and 2 HBP’s left the bases loaded, but a pop-up that Jimenez managed to catch in foul territory ended the inning before any runs could be scored. He was 89-91 from what I remember, some of his command was a bit off at times, but I don’t think he walked anyone until his last inning.
Reddick looked good in CF, but he wasn’t challenged by anything. He did make a great play where he threw out a runner going for 3B after tagging 2B. Cannon of an arm, no question the ball got there before the runner. Later in the game a runner was about to tag up at 2B but decided against it since Reddick had made the catch.
At the plate he didn’t look that bad, although he didn’t produce anything to show for it. He was hitting lead-off, and his first AB he took some high balls before eventually popping out on a 2-2 count I believe. I will say this, he didn’t swing at the first pitch in any AB, even though his next two AB’s had first-pitch strikes in them. He went 0-for, but it looked like he was at least trying to work the count a bit.
Brown, Bates, and Frandsen both got on base twice, they provided the bulk of today’s offense and it was Frandsen who scored the only (and winning) run.
Embree looked good against minor league players, I guess, but he wasn’t outstanding. Richardson pitched the last inning. He looked okay. He was a bit high at times, threw a very high WP and walked a left-handed batter on 4 straight pitches, but he closed the game and got a save so I guess it worked out for him. He definitely still needs seasoning though.
