Andy Sonnanstine walked the bases loaded before Beltre lined to left to score Scutaro from third.
Reddick working out a hard AB. 2-2
USG
Reddick grounds to second, but manages to avoid the double play.
2-0 Sox, 1 out, runners on the corners for Lars.
Very long AB for Reddick. At least 7, 8 pitches.
USG
Meanwhile, against the Twins, Lackey through 1 without any baserunners. Struck out 1.
Cameron singled, Hermida walked, and Drew was HBP, but the Sox couldn’t score.
USG
Lars lines out to second. Zobrist turns the DP and Sonnanstine gets out of the inning.
Lars hasn’t had a great start to the spring, but a lineout isn’t a bad thing.
USG
Prince Felix getting the start vs. the Rays.
Retires Bartlett and Crawford before walking Longo. Pena up.
USG
Against the Rays, Che-Hsuan Lin takes 4 straight balls after Darnell McDonald is retired.
Rejoice, Hix!
USG
Very Yay
"That was a lot of fun… You just keep pounding balls into the gap. The one thing you don’t want to do is hit a home run. That’s a rally-killer." Jeff Francoeur
Joe Nathan K's Cameron before walking Hall and Drew. Now out for an injury?
If it’s anything serious, that would be a big blow to the Twins.
USG
Very good outing for Felix.
2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K
Adam Mills in now. Bad start as Darnell McDonald loses one in the sun.
USG
Bowden through another inning. Probably his last.
Took Orlando Hudson, JJ Hardy, and Justin Morneau down in order. Good day for him.
USG
Mills is having serious trouble.
1 out, a run scored, and runners on the corners with Longo at the plate.
USG
Che-Hsuan Lin aka The on base machine.

Here's Adam Mills "pitching"

At least that got to the catcher.
Better than giving up bombs to Zobrist and Shoppach. Those just end up in the stands.
USG
Heh

She knows what run prevention means.

Iglesias is in the Tampa game. I await his AB impatiently.
Sheely seems to be hacking it up in the OF in Minny.
USG
Not much to look forward to pitching wise for the rest of the games.
Weiland was supposed to pitch before Castro, but Castro is in now. Did I miss something?
And Tazawa should finish up the day vs. the Twins.
USG
Angel Sanchez hasn't been able to keep his hot streak going from last year.
0-6 on the Spring with an error today. He had an outside shot at a bench job starting the year. I’d say he’s gotta get going soon to hold onto that.
USG
at least he's putting the ball in the air.

Rays announcers aren't the best with names. Specifically Lin's.
But I gotta say it’s easy to follow the game with them on the mic.
USG
Lin flies out to right. Diving play in foul ground to get him.
Dusty Brown grounds out to end the inning. 4-3 Rays, Mid. 6th
USG
Lin dodges an error by mercy of the scorer.
Ball came off the boot of his glove. But it seems like it was one he didn’t have much business getting to anyways.
USG
I'm expecting a monster year from him this season
For the first time, he has the opportunity to train without any distractions:
2007: 1st year in the US, new culture, new style of play…
2008: He has to leave Greenville during the season to play in the Olympics.
2009: Because of the WBC came to camp late and injured.
And he kept showing substantial progress!!!! I. Love. Him (in a man way of course)

Hix is...obsessed.
It’s Gibson and Lin for him.
But he’s definitely doing nicely so far in spring. Still walking is still good.
USG
Joe Nelson and Fabio Castro both having trouble.
Nobody really asserting themselves in the final bullpen spot race.
USG
Iglesias swings at the first pitch, and reaches on an error by Beckham.
Given second on the error. Oscar Tejeda at bat.
USG
I think that Friedman is kicking himself every now and than and saying
Why I didn’t draft Posey?
"That was a lot of fun… You just keep pounding balls into the gap. The one thing you don’t want to do is hit a home run. That’s a rally-killer." Jeff Francoeur
He's already outgrowing the position
"That was a lot of fun… You just keep pounding balls into the gap. The one thing you don’t want to do is hit a home run. That’s a rally-killer." Jeff Francoeur
Yamaico Navarro walks on a full count.
Announcers says he looked jumpy, but if so, he didn’t show it in the final outcome.
9 walks

Seriously
I don’t understand the level of hate for the Res Sox on DRB, I mean we’re rivals but why ONLY the Sox?
look at what’s written on game thread
Yet another AL East game, but this time it is…them.
"That was a lot of fun… You just keep pounding balls into the gap. The one thing you don’t want to do is hit a home run. That’s a rally-killer." Jeff Francoeur
I really don't know
They just have a chip on their shoulders for us.

Also, lots of remarks about how ugly our team is.

Yep
But I’m cool with that, I remember reading this once on Sons of Sam Horn:
“I want the Patriots to be hated, because I know from being a Red Sox fan that harbored hatred is a constant reminder of ones own inferiority. I want all the non-Patriot and non-Red Sox fans to have to bathe in the stink of their own inferiority for the rest of their lives, and then die feeling unfulfilled. That is what I want.”
Totally reflects my feelings against that hatred ;)

Do you know who's pitching for TB?

Bateman seems to go back and forth between awful and dominant.
Manages to get out of the inning maintaining the tie.
USG
Who else is loving this Major League storyline where the Twins catcher can't throw the ball back to the pitcher?
7-3 Boston as Molina is walked, forcing Spears home. Late-inning dominance by the Red Sox.
USG
Darnell McDonald with a nice defensive play to save a likely triple for Weiland.
Kalish was right there too.
USG
I’m sick of this “If he can’t develop power, he’s likely a tweener”: I mean if could evolve into a .870-.830 OPS with a good defense, that’s better than .950 OPS with a stiff glove right? Between Ichiro! and Bay/Dunn who would you choose?
"That was a lot of fun… You just keep pounding balls into the gap. The one thing you don’t want to do is hit a home run. That’s a rally-killer." Jeff Francoeur
Ichiro! is uniquely great because his OBP is mostly on avg
Kalish knows how to draw walks and has a floor of 15-20 dingers so even if don’t reach his ceiling in terms of power and put an OBP in the .370 and slug for .480: That’s very good if it goes with above average defense. But people keep thinking that a COF NEEDS to hit 30+ homers >:(
"That was a lot of fun… You just keep pounding balls into the gap. The one thing you don’t want to do is hit a home run. That’s a rally-killer." Jeff Francoeur
Kris Johnson is set to take on the Rays in the bottom of the 9th.
Given our earlier lambasting of Beckham, who is due up, can it be anything but a walk off?
USG
He's this year Jason Place.
"That was a lot of fun… You just keep pounding balls into the gap. The one thing you don’t want to do is hit a home run. That’s a rally-killer." Jeff Francoeur
Seriously?
To whom? Better not be Beckham.

sigh of relief

Well, at least I know that no lead is safe whenever Kris Johnson comes in
There’s always some relief pitcher in ST who just always seems to screw things up towards the end of a game.

Remember, the Sox are on TV tomorrow.
Not sure if it’s NESN or MLBN. I think it was supposed to be both, and then they changed it.
But if you get the one it’s on, don’t miss it. Casey Kelly on TV!
