Jose Iglesias
This Cuban shortstop is known for his defense, but is showing signs of offense. He already has a couple hits, including a three run double in spring training. When will he make his Red Sox debut? Also I am confused about how these Cuban players come into the MLB. What is the difference between these guys and the guys that do not make it in? Someone fill me in please.
I am excited to watch him play.

I voted 2012
But that was probably because of the booze.
The others would be able to tell you better than I, certainly, but my impression is that he is VERY young and VERY green and while he had an enormous ceiling, he ain’t close to bein’ there. And the Sox aren’t the type of organization to rush a guy and ruin him when he had the potential to be something incredible.
Galactus does as he pleases. Because Galactus is drunk.
I have a five-tool player in my pants.
However...
…I would also like to say that he has a swing that kinda reminds me of Manny, and so because of that I already feel myself forming a man-crush on him.

everything i hear about the guy is good
I think we see him this year at some point.
Trade Beckett before the deadline
JD Drew the stud who is.
I'm taking suggestions from myself on the 2010 rally song.
Re-sign Victor Martinez, the future DH of the Boston Red Sox
Am I supposed to like John Lackey ?
I see a 2011 September call up.
Though a 2010 call up isn’t out of the question given our lack of a good defensive replacement SS. It’d give him confidence that he can play on a big stage while not exposing his bat.
As far as his offense is concerned, it’s definitely not a plus part of his game, but I think the “question mark” nature got overblown into a “bad” reputation. He seems to make perfectly good, hard contact. He’ll probably hit for a high average—I wouldn’t even say .300 is out of reach at all—but what will mark him as either a great defensive player or a great player will be plate discipline. Iglesias is expected to be a hacker coming out of Cuba, and he kind of lived up to that in the AFL (4 walks in 73 PA), but from what very little I’ve seen of him he’s trying to improve there. Not much power to speak of.
As for the question about Cuban players, what do you mean? The difference is the same as it is for the rest of the players: If they’re good enough.

cuban players
there team came for the world baseball classic was full of amazing players and none of them were in the mlb? i thought
There were certainly a number of Cuban players on the National team who could make the MLB.
But to do so, they would have to defect, which basically means leaving home forever.

I'm really impressed with what I've seen of him at the plate recently
Quick hands, nice swing plane and a very quick bat. I totally buy the Omar Vizquel comp.
I started off thinking “Rey Ordonez” when this kid signed… but he keep raising my opinion of him.
