Red Sox Sign Scott Schoeneweis
The Red Sox have signed relief pitcher Scott Schoeneweis, who was released by Milwaukee earlier this week.
Schoeneweis was a solid option out of the bullpen for the Mets in 2008, but he fell off the map in 2009. He racked up a 7.12 ERA with the Diamondbacks in 24 innings of work.
Schoeneweis is -- what else? -- bullpen depth. Will he beat out Joe Nelson, Scott Atchison or Alan Embree for a spot on the roster? No. Just Theo Epstein taking another opportunity to get some depth.

MOAR PITCHERS
WE WILL STACK THEM LIKE RUBBERMADE BINS
Galactus does as he pleases. Because Galactus is drunk.
I have a five-tool player in my pants.
ACTUALLY, advanced metrics show that that wasn't "premature".

Pretty sure his bad 2009 was mostly because of his wife dying
If he can get back to pre-2009 numbers, he could be somewhat useful as one of the first call-ups from AAA.

He was pretty bad in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2007, & 2008
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

As OTM’s token Brewers fan, I have been semi-immersed in the whole Schoeneweis situation and…well, you guys may want Embree instead. Embree will probably complain less.
I’m surprised he signed another minor-league contract. We think he didn’t understand the situation in the Brewers camp and thought he was going to fit right into the situational lefty slot, not realizing that Mitch Stetter would most likely be doing that and the loser of the Manny Parra vs. Chris Narveson #5 starter competition would be working left-handed middle relief (Stetter’s 2009 gig…before Narveson got called up.)
I forgot about that.
Unbelievable that he came back to pitch so soon after that. The game log shows he was actually pretty solid beforehand (she died May 20), and then totally shit the bed in the aftermath.
Manny ain't the only bad man.
