So the game starts at 7

and we can watch it at 10?

i'm watching now

and in the bottom of the first so far we have 2 wild pitches and a throwing error by pedroia.

Pitching and defense is what we were working on, yes.

i'll do a bit till i lose focus

sox went down 1-2-3. Span singled, and advanced on a wild pitch. Hudson walked and then both advanced on another wild pitch. Span scored on Mauer’s ground out. Morneau struck out looking.

Weird camera angle

It’s hard to pick up the pitches.

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

yeah

right at the ump’s head

Youk!

Lead-off double

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

by Drugs Delaney on Mar 23, 2010 7:29 PM EDT reply actions

youk doubles

announcer says “I’m not sure why they boo him here”

that was what i thought when i first saw him too.

Beltre singles, just over Hardy's glove

Youk doesn’t advance.

Tek, the rally killer, is up …

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Pavano is pounding the zone pretty well

his pitches that are off seem barely off. Of course the second base ump’s head is in the way so i could be wrong. Terrible angle. You’d think if they could afford $184 for mauer they could get someone who isn’t an idiot to direct the broadcast.

True to form

Tek kills the rally with a DP.

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Buchholz is not looking good

lots of pitches and not hitting his location.

by wolf9309 on Mar 23, 2010 7:45 PM EDT reply actions

for the record

I was typing that when the announcer said it :)

by wolf9309 on Mar 23, 2010 7:45 PM EDT up reply actions

ouch

punto singles past pedroia. Young scores and Hardy makes it to third. Runners on the corners with one out.

by wolf9309 on Mar 23, 2010 7:48 PM EDT reply actions

oh wait

angel sanchez is at second now. weird.

by wolf9309 on Mar 23, 2010 7:48 PM EDT up reply actions

Pedroia out

Anyone know why?

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

by Drugs Delaney on Mar 23, 2010 7:49 PM EDT reply actions

That's what I'm thinking

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

From boston.com:
… the absence of Dustin Pedroia is more puzzling. Angel Sanchez came out to start the second inning at second base, after Pedroia started the game. Pedroia did dive on a ball by Denard Span to lead off the game, and throw the ball wildly to first for an error. It’s possible his departure is connected to that. No updates on him yet.

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

span singles again

runners on the corners again. 3-0.

Well

Can’t say I’m not worried about Buck

I don't know

(1) I can’t tell what Buchholz’s stuff looks like because the 2nd base ump is in the way most of the time.

(2) Most of the hits are GBs.

(3) Buchholz has never pitched well with Tek behind the plate.

(4) And, most importantly, it’s ST.

I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

True on #3

But there’s too many misses with the fastball to make me feel good about his control. It’s been that way all spring, too.

span steals a base

actually looked like a good throw from Tek, but he had a great jump.

Then hudson singles off of first and scores two more.

RamRam the first is warming up

mauer has flied out and morneu got hit in the foot with a pitch.

by wolf9309 on Mar 23, 2010 7:57 PM EDT reply actions

Ramirez allows one run, then gets Young to Fly out to Sanchez

This play by play is depressing. Me and my beer are heading back to my couch to watch, i’ll tune back in here if something wonderful happens.

by wolf9309 on Mar 23, 2010 8:05 PM EDT reply actions

I think this is "pitch in the dirt" catcher practice.

That, or we’ve got some really wild young guys…
