MLB 2010 The Show
Maybe its just me, but this is one of my favorite days of the year. The day the new MLB The Show comes out with the newest game in its franchise. Dustin Pedroia was the cover athlete last season and was vastly overrated, as was Ortiz. I'm really looking forward to seeing how the guys at Sony rate the Sox this year and looking forward to seeing any new additions to the game...
Anyone else big on this game? I feel its about as close to the real thing as you can get right now for a game. Can't wait to play!

Sorry man if you want a good baseball simulator it has to be MLB 2K whatever year. EVERY year the 2K series always gets higher rated then the other EA products and is better for career mode and fantasy mode. The online competition is relentless. Just because EA spends more on marketing every year then they do on, oh I don’t know DEVELOPING the game doesn’t make it better. Save your money, your time and buy a 2K game from last year and you will be happy with it. Unless you like hitting homeruns every single time you have an AB or giving one up pitching to every batter. Then EA sports is for you. The only franchise that was worth anything at all was the TWG. Now I am not sure what EA sports hangs it hat on? Madden- the WORST FOOTBALL GAME EVER. Each year it tries to emulate there competitor 2K and still cannot match NFL2K7. I buy Madden because I love football, not because it’s a good game. Maybe if EA convinces the NFL that they should get the only NFL title for another 5 years then maybe they will catch up to the vastly superior 2K games.

The Show isn’t made by EA…it’s a PS3 exclusive. And to the orignal poster, I picked it up over lunch, but haven’t had a chance to play it yet.

2K knows how to do basketball.
There baseball games are hack jobs. And as the other poster mentioned, EA has no part in the Show series.
As much as this almost feels like astroturfing, I know how David feels, because The Show is incredible. I just gotta wait for class to finish…

Oh, and ironically your criticisms of the Show are spot on for the 2K series.
Wiffleball physics, every game is a home run derby, etc. To say nothing of rampant glitching, broken pitching mechanics, and graphics a year behind. If you have a PS3, get the Show. If you don’t…Honestly, don’t bother with 2K even then.

Ben...
Always up to play online, I’m in California, so the time difference might be tough, but I’d like to play sometime if you’re up to it…Maybe on a weekend.

Whenever they get the servers fixed.
I’ve tried 2 online games, and they were both laggy as all getout and the other guy DC’ed after 3 or 4 innings.
Though I think that might have just been because they were typical ragequitters. 22 strikeouts in less than a game’s worth of play. Yeah. When they won’t hold up on a pitchout…
USG
Sounds good
I’ll try not to flail at the pitchout, I just get so excited!
Let me know.

Sadly, this
I’ll get the new MLB 2K anyway, just because I only have an XBox 360, but I really wish the Show wasn’t platform exclusive. Not even a contest at this point.

2K games
have always been so choopy in my opinion, like playing the original Twisted Metal. Not a big fan. The Show is not EA, but I gotta say I stick to EA when it comes to sports games, they seem to get a lot right and I think their graphics engines are superior. Maybe thats why 2K can afford to sell games on the cheap.

You say Choppy
I say choopy, lets call the whole thing off…

i disagree
EA’s Baseballs 2K game was so bad last year i had to take it back… they tried changing it up from the year before and it just didn’t work in my opinion. They still have lots of glitches they need to work on for that game…
The Show looks amazing and is one of the reasons I covet a PS3

Im stuck with 2K for the PC.
Bleh. 2K has sucked every year since 07, yet I continue to buy it hoping that they will fix the obvious issues.
I’ll probably just go back to my modded MVP Baseball 05’ again anyway.
Last action based baseball game I played was Hardball
Got into Miller Baseball’s APBA Simulations for awhile and tried Baseball Mogul
What about Ken Griffey Jr's
Winning Run? That game made me sad, even when it was brand new in 1994 or whatever for SNES.
Waiting to get outta work to go play The Show though, I loved 2008, 2009, and supposedly 2010 is supposed to make the Road to the Show a lot better so should be a good one, I highly recommend it to anyone with PS3.
Waiting to see how Beltre is rated. Should be interesting.

MLB 10:
I only own a PSP, but it took me 3 stores, and got the last one a few hours ago…
Well, I owned last years, and I tried the Sox in a 6 inning exhibition against the Indians…just to make sure the game works..some things I noticed..
Dice-K can actually hit the strike zone this year. He was so bad last year, I traded him to Chicago for Jon Danks. Also, you’ll have to up his stamina, as he won’t go more than 5 innings for you. The Graphics do look a little sharper: heck, you can even change the way the grass is cut in the infield. The players play like Theo thought: Great defense, and I even had errors option on. Cameron went 2-3 and 2 RBI’s (which shows you this is a fantasy game). As always, you’ll have to do some manuvering of the rosters, as Damon, Hudson, Kennedy and Lopez are all in the free agent market. And yes, breathe easy, Casey Fien IS in the game (if you REALLY want to make the roster complete.)
I've been really pleased so far
I was really busy yesterday, but made some time to play, and really good so far. Pitching with Lackey is a little frustrating, but Buchholz is a stud. All of Pedroia’s power from the 2009 game is gone, which is a little more realistic, but he’s a singles and doubles machine. I have proved absolutely no plate discipline, which is not going to please Theo, but I destroyed the Home Run Derby with Youk. That was epic.

Buying 2K10 for 360 today ... hopefully
I also need to move into a new apartment, but hey, who really cares, right?
If anyone is on XBL with 2K10, my screen name is ApexNine…

Yeah the new RTTS is really good
I really like how they have smoothed out the graphics, and made getting better a little more difficult. So its not gonna take 2 seasons to be better than Pujols, its gonna take closer to 6 or 7, depending on how well you are able to meet the goals provided for you. I’m really happy with the way this game turned out, its awesome.
