Rejoice! David Ortiz just hit a home run!
Everybody can take a very small step back from the ledge now.

No broadcast radio or otherwise, so no real game topic today.
But Wakefield had one of his bad games (5 ER in 3 innings so far. Probably done), and, of course, Ortiz.

Bad outing for Wake, though
And Lowell is playing 1B. I’d like to see that.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.
Hey, we Sox fans live on the (l)edge!

I like this kid
Hope he can keep it up and not do a repeat of his ML performance last year.

I thought he had already hit one this spring training.

ACTUALLY, advanced metrics show that that wasn't "premature".
Ah.
I didn’t realize we were splitting hairs about pointless homeruns. ;)

Well, I don't think I ever said it was his first...

I know, Ben Buchanan.
I guess I was just unaware of an underlying panic amongst the Nation.

You should read boards that aren't as sophisticated as this one
Then you’d see.

My tolerance for stupidity is low
I avoid “boards” like the plague. Ditto the comment sections for articles in online newspapers.

Closer next year
If Bard has a real good year is Pap back next year
I think we're keeping Lowell
in case Papi continues to decline… so far this spring, it at least seems possible that he will. If Papi has a respectable start, then we’ll move Mikey before the deadline. If Papi starts off “glacially” like last year, Lowell will start getting more DH at bats vs lefties and eventually take over the DH position, rotating with Youk and Beltre at the corners to get everyone rest when they need it. Sounds like a good plan.
DFA Ortiz
keep Lowell.
Trade Beckett before the deadline
JD Drew the stud who is.
I'm taking suggestions from myself on the 2010 rally song.
Re-sign Victor Martinez, the future DH of the Boston Red Sox
Am I supposed to like John Lackey ?
Off Topic:
Why have most baseball commentators so little knowledge?
just watching Atl vs Nats cause Heyward Bats 3rd
Commentator said: Felix Hernandez should have won the AL CY Young last year. On what less K/9? more BB/9? 2.5 WAR less than greinke?
But Felix won 3 more games!!!
Got some guys are just aweful, these national commentators are idiots.

I'd put a bounty on Joe Buck's head if it was legal.

I don't care what anyone says.
I really like Joe Buck.

Papi bashers
It is a bit early to bash #34 ……………has anyone seen A gon’s stat’s for this spring?

Gonzalez is hitting .348 AVG (.674 SLG) so far
But I agree. It’s way too early to bash Papi, and Gonzalez isn’t likely to be playing for the Sox this year (if at all).
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

As far as I can tell Adrian is only hitting .158 after yesterday's game
And Joey Votto’s at .200, Dunn’s at .176, etc.

My bad
I looked too quickly at ESPN’s ST stats and didn’t realize that I was looking at 2009.
I never really care about ST. All I want to see is some of the kids—and I always hope there are no serious injuries. The stats are pretty meaningless as an indicator of how well a player will hit in the regular season. For example, last year Papi had 3 HR in the spring. He didn’t hit his 3rd regular season HR until June 9th. Also, in 2007, Ortiz’s best year, he hit .196 AVG in ST.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Ortiz will be fine
Last year from June 1 on he had the most HR’s & RBI in the AL and he was consistant month to month. Jun 7HR, Jul 7HR, Aug 7HR, Sep 6HR. April/May 1HR total while he was recovering from wrist Inj. If he had a similar Apr/May as the rest of the year he would have 40 Hr’s. So this year I expect around 35 and I’ll take that
