Projecting the 2010 Red Sox Lineup: No. 8

Finally, J.D. Drew has a spot in the lineup and that's at No. 7.

Here's how the lineup looks:

  1. Jacoby Ellsbury
  2. Dustin Pedroia
  3. Victor Martinez
  4. Kevin Youkilis
  5. David Ortiz
  6. Adrian Beltre
  7. J.D. Drew
  8. ???
  9. ???

Now it's the last part of the puzzle. Who is the No. 8 hitter? This is also a poll for the No. 9 hitter because, well, there's nothing left to vote on. So considering this your vote for the final two spots. I'll leave the poll for the weekend.

Who should bat eighth for the Red Sox in 2010?

Finally this serie is over.

I hope Tito’s taking notes from these posts and polls

I’m glad the Sox are starting to appreciate the work everyone does at OTM

I'm gonna be at opening night too!

can’t wait.

Really jealous about the Dodgers game though. Couldn’t get tickets there. I’ll get some eventually, I’ll just have to overpay.

Great games Sean.

Congrats. I don’t care if they are standing room only. Your in Fenway for two key fun games. Enjoy!

Mike Cameron

is much darker than I remember. He has been getting a lot of sun down in FL though. Hmm.

Whoever said it doesn't matter whether you win or lose, probably lost.

Drew 7, Cameron 8

This is going to be a damned good lineup. I don’t see the blackholes we had last year. I am so pumped for opening day, I can’t remember being this excited in such a long time.

I agree

Much has been made of the lack of power in the lineup but if you look at it the power is there – its just spread out more. We’ve got 6 out of the 9 guys likely to hit around the 20-HR range (V-Mart, Youk, Ortiz, Drew, Camreon and Beltre) and two Scutaro and Pedroia who will probably be in double digits as well. True we do not have a 30-40 HR type player, but we do not also have a 7-8-9 troika that make opposing pitchers smile like Varitek-Kotchman-Green or something like that

Confidence

If he gets it early, 35 is absolutely attainable. Last year he almost hit 30 and that was after he decided to not hit until June. The year before that he nearly got 25 despite missing nearly 60 games. The power is still there, he just needs to be there mentally. Mentally there I guess 36 HRs this year, not there? I’d say 27.

Think either will do

It really doesnt matter. I think it might change depending on who is pitching against the sox.
