"Hey rookie," he says. "You're supposed to wear a jersey out there. I don't know how it is in Cuba with Fidel, but I'm running this joint."
Iglesias laughed.
"I'm serious," Pedroia said with a straight face before cracking up.

Does Pedroia become the captain, or does it go to someone else (or no one)?
I think Youk might be too hot-headed to qualify. VMart might be a good choice if he’s extended. Drew’s too quiet, Ells is too young, and Ortiz is probably on the way out. I’ve never heard of a pitching captain, so I’d say Pedroia is the logical choice.

Pedroia is basically a default captain already in many ways
I think Gammons had an article saying that.

Pedroia and Lester
to me both reek of leadership.
Lackey actually has good cred as a clubhouse leader in Annaheim. but he’s the new boy in town.
I think it was either Francona or Epstein
who said that Tek is the official Captain, but Pedroia is the real captain of the position players and Beckett is the captain of the pitching staff.
