2012 Free Agents
I may have just wasted a lot of time. While searching for a list of 2012 free agents (after the 2011 season), I discovered I could not find one.
So I made my own (with info from Cot's Baseball Contracts). It's not a definitive list--I very much doubt it is either complete or wholly accurate--but it will have to do until Cot's and MLBTR make their own.

If they can't bring JD back
Ryan Ludwick would be interesting. Assuming one of our many outfield prospects can’t go.
Reddick and Kalish > Ludwick
Of course that is 2 years from now……

I think
you included 2011 free agents, some of which will sign long-term deals and be unavailable for the 2012 season.
Oh?
I included 2011 free agents with options, I know.

Note that only 2011 FREE AGENTS with options get the [<] mark.
Adrian Gonzalez, for example, will not have the service time to become a free agent even if the Padres decline the option. His arbitration would be a huge raise, but still.

To Wit
My method was searching for:
Players with contracts ending in 2011 and 4 or more current years of service time
Players with contracts ending in 2010 with a 2011 club or player option.
Players with exactly 4 years of service time (well, 4 and X days works too, just not 5+ or less than 4) and no long-term contract signed with their teams.
It does assume no non-tenders, which is why you’ll see some names both on this list and the 2011 MLBTR free agents list that have no option.
I compared my list with said other list, and there was not a lot of unexplained overlap (Mike Jacobs, for instance, was signed on a minor league contract, but I believe will be arbitration but not free agency eligible should his team choose to retain his services after 2010).

Good stuff, Ben
Definitely a nice resource to have.

agreed - very good.
not having the 2012 free agent list available, seems to imply that 2 years (2010 b& 2011 fa’s were posted in late 2009) is the long term planning period for major leaguers.
I was looking into possible deadline trades particularly.
In the case of all those scenarios where we desperately need a bat come summer. I don’t think they’re too likely, but Theo has a penchant for big deals, and it’s either that or the bullpen. God I hope we won’t need a starter…

Man, look at all those star 1B
I mean, you know a lot of them will be locked up, but I could see guys like Fielder and maybe Howard going to FA.

Fielder definitely could.
Berkman is really questionable given the standards he holds himself to. That talk of retirement was really surprising.
A-Gon will likely be locked up by whatever team acquires him. The Padres WILL trade him before the year is out. The fact that there’s been any talk by the FO about not being able to afford him, combined with the fact that Jed Hoyer is smart enough to learn from the mistakes of a Ricciardi virtually ensure that.
I think Howard would be wise to accept the massive extension offer the Phillies will probably come up with. Teams are becoming too smart to drop a lot of dough on a big-power 1B with average on base skills. Then again, there’s always the Mets.
Helton will either retire or take a short, small deal from the Rockies so he can retire there later.
Albert Pujols isn’t going anywhere. The Cardinals would sell off World Series trophies to make sure of that.

Right, I was counting out Pujols and A-Gon definitely
But Fielder could definitely hit FA with Boras as his agent. And if the Brewers do lock him up it’ll have to be at or incredibly near market value I’m guessing.
Berkman really should be traded. The Astros have no business signing a guy like Lyon for 3/$15MM. They should be doing a bit of rebuilding in my opinion. Whether Lance retires or not I’m guessing depends on how he does in the next two years.
Howard I would do 60/40 on him staying with the Phillies. It’ll probably happen if they offer him big money, but there’s still a significant enough chance he could leave.
