Community Projections: And The Injuries Take Their Toll

I can see how this one's going to turn out. Same with a lot of the rest of them.

While Youkilis was on his way to some pretty huge numbers as many of us had speculated, he ended up getting knocked out early and missing the last couple months of the season. If any of you ends up even close on PA, HR, or RBI, I will be very surprised indeed.

As the only person to come within five points on all three rate stats, our winner is tommy.otm. A lot of us came very close (myself included, redeeming my mediocre performance with Martinez somewhat), but he's got bolds across the board.

Maybe we could extrapolate Kevin's season?

and see who would have gotten close on the counting stats?

I already had to do HTML for this, and I don’t even know how to do HTML!

PA = AB + BB + HBP + SH + SF
For Youk
AB=362 BB=58 ,HBP=10, SH=0, SF=5, PA=435

He played in 102 games which is 4.26 PAs a game.
His last game was the Sox’s 106th of the year, so he played in ~96% of the games, assuming he did that the rest of the year he would come out to 155 games. Assuming he hit the same that would come out to

PA=660
R=117
H=168
2B=39
3B=8
HR=29
RBI=94
BB=88
K=102
SB=6
CS=2

Wild card nothing...

We weren’t that far out of taking the division. Look at our June 21st standings before the “West Coast Injury Trip”

June 21st Standings link

We were playing .606 baseball. Tampa won the division playing .593 baseball.

I can’t wait for ’11.

Way to snub me on BA.

Otherwise I blew.

You can go back and fix it now Ben

Over 102 games

and 362 AB’s Youk was an absolute monster last year before the injury. His .411 and .564 slugging pretty much say it all. He didn’t get nearly enough credit from the national media for what was a fantastic year up to the time he got hurt. There is every reason to believe he will be at full strength next year and that alone is a big key for th 2011 Red Sox
