Favorite Moments Time: What Were Yours?
It's that time of year again: the San Francisco Giants have been crowned as the 2010 World Series champions, and while it's certainly time to look ahead to the upcoming Hot Stove season, it's also time for Over The Monster to remember the best parts of 2010.
No matter how hard we have to look...
So, Red Sox fans and OTM readers, what do you remember? A crazy game? A seemingly impossible play? A huge hit? Adrian Beltre getting his head rubbed? Help us remember what made this season great, even without the postseason.
I'd also like to gauge reader interest on something else: a worst moments of 2010 series. I think it was Sandy who came up with the idea, and who knows? It might be fun, therapeutic, and/or traumatic.

+1 Bravo!!!
my number 2 moment would have been when the rangers were eliminated.
as a matter of principle, i hate all texas teams.
but your number 1 is number 1!!!
Well
I have a lot of personall ones. Probably the series the Red Sox swept the Rays at the Trop, beacuse i was there behind the dugout each game. That series I got balls from Bard, McDonald, and Buchholz. Adrian Beltre hit his first one knee home run, and the Rays fans were misrable.
That is probably my favorite, looking back.

and Darnell McDonald's first game
that’s still one of my favorites I’ve been to. Pretty epic victory.
Lots to choose from.
Beltre’s first knee-homer was good, I didn’t remember that off the top of my head. Nava’s debut obviously, McDonald too. And of course, all of Beltre’s head rubs collectively.
Oh!
I forgot about being at the Nava game.
That is on my list.

The first 6 or so innings from that Lester game in Seatle. Best pitching I had ever seen.
I would prefer to erase the last few from my mind though.
I love Lester and Pedroia!!! ITS MAN LOVE!
Nava's debut has to be up there.
Mike Lowell’s return, and his retirement ceremony. Tek’s standing O was pretty amazing too, gave me chills.
As a whole
the number of Grand SLams from Sox hitters this season. Namely the Nava debut, the near-comeback in the bottom of the ninth with Papi’s, Scutaro, and two from Kalish.
David Ortiz 2010: 120 RBIs, 35+ HRs. Jason who?
How can anything but Lowell's HR be #1?
Considering he was almost dealt to the MFY.

DO NOT OVERPAY FOR BELTRE !!!
TRADE ELLSBURY THIS WINTER !!!
One of the many, proud OTM'ers that cannot stand Josh Beckett.
Nava and Kalish's Grand Slams Are #1
Yeah they’re two different things, but still.
Mikey Lowell’s HR back was a close #2 though.
For the first time in 6 seasons
There wasn’t a single great game I attended all season. Everything was either like a 7-3 win or loss, nothing dramatic or particularly noteworthy.
On TV, the D-mac game was incredible, so I’ll go with that I guess.
Nava's Debut, definately
You combine a great story with a huge hit and it gave the Sox the lead. I also really liked seeing Adrian Beltre hit that homer from his knee.

That homer?
He’s hit multiple homers from one knee. God, I’ll miss that guy if he goes.

A short list
- Nava’s debut game. (The game thread was absolutely awesome.)
- Bard’s filthy, filthy strikeouts of Jeter and Swisher to preserve the shutout in August. (Most deliciously evil pitch EVER.)
- Pedey’s Super Laser Show Extravaganza.
- Mikey’s return
- DMac’s debut
- Lowrie’s walkoff homer (plus his two big games against the MFYs: 6 RBIs, 3 HRs, 6 R, 16 TBs, and got to embarrass Joba and Swisher on the same play)
- Pedey’s walkoff win against the Dodgers
- Just about any Jon Lester start in May through August
- Ditto for Buchholz

One more to make it an even 10
- Kalish doing his best Nick Green impression to scoop up that fly ball while somersaulting, and avoiding a collision with Drew in the process.
Also:
Can we count Beltre taking out Hermida as a highlight?

decorum, schmecorum
sucks for him that he got hurt, but the team was much better off without him pretending to play left field everyday.
Going to the Hospital on Opening Night
My wife’s water breaks and we rush to the hospital and little (Sweet) Caroline was born! We were down and came back against the the MFY

GO SOX!!
D-Mac's walkoff on his debut is definitely my #1
Watching him round first and trot to second quite calmly as he’s realizing the game is over…and then turning around to all of a sudden see a charging rhino named Youk running at him. He was all of a sudden like, “HOLY @#$%ING SHIT!”
Love it. Like he didn’t quite know how to react to a walkoff. Really underscored the “debut” part of the moment.

I realize this is a spring training moment
But Nomar’s retirement made me all weepy. It’s not my number one moment (D-Mac’s where that’s at), but it hasn’t been mentioned yet, and it definitely deserves consideration. That was classy on pretty much everyone’s part.
the funniest thing about that
was that Hall had already shattered the window of one of the cars next to it in BP
I don't know how i didn't think of this yet
Pedro throwing out the first pitch of the year at fenway. That was pretty special.
