I get the impression that they haven’t actually talked to the Red Sox about this.
Yeah
The phrasing of “Cubs have kicked around the idea” doesn’t necessarily mean they’ve run it by the Sox. There were some implications about a third team being involved, but I can’t think of any other bad contracts out there that would make sense for us to take on.
