Sad day in Pawtucket

Long time Pawtucket  Red Sox owner Ben Mondor passed away Sunday night.  Mr Mondor took over the struggling franchise in 1977 and built it into one of the premier teams in minor leagues.    Just thought I would pass along the news.

From the Providence Journal

Pawtucket Red Sox owner Ben Mondor, the local businessman who revitalized the franchise, has passed away at age 85, the PawSox have confirmed.

"It is with profound sadness that the PawSox family announces the passing of Pawtucket Red Sox owner Ben Mondor. Ben passed away peacefully last evening at his home in Warwick Neck, RI at the age of 85," the PawSox said in a statement.

"He was an incredible and charitable man who was first and foremost devoted to his wife Madeleine, along with his PawSox family and the entire community at large."
