Peoria Javelins v. Mesa SweatSox (Arizona Fall League Game 7)

It's winter baseball! It's Casey Kelly Day! Gameday link here (now with Pitch f/x data, hopefully).

In addition to Kelly, today's Javelinas feature the one-two punch of Sox farmhands Jose Iglesias (SS - batting second) and Ryan Lavarnway (C - batting third). Or is that a slap and a punch? At any rate, two RBIs from the pair yesterday, despite a day largely characterized by offensive futility. Farm Sox relievers Seth Garrison and Jason Rice might appear in relief. If the Javelinas are up by 15 runs or so, you might even see woe-begotten reliever Eammon Portice.

Other youngsters of note include the Javs' Koby Clemens (HOU), the spawn of Roger Clemens' unholy steroid-shriveled loins; Josh Vitters (CHC); and Brandon Wood (LAA), complete with his newly-won resplendent golden sombrero.

Did You Know?:

In addition to being the County Seat of Peoria County and the fifth-largest city in Illinois, Peoria is also the name of a city in Maricopa and Yavapi Counties in Arizona, named for the city in Illinois.

I didn't, but in retrospect the back-to-back home and away games make a lot more sense that way...
