The sweep of the O's 9/20/09 in pictures (minus the beach ball, sorry crabchowdah)
Having just emptied my camera of its most recent pictures, I've decided to share with you pictures to compliment crabchowdah's lovely piece over yonder. The day was very lovely, hits were aplenty and I apparently only got tan on the left side of my face. For those of you who could not bask in the win as chowdah and I did, hopefully these pictures can give you a glimpse.
Let's start it off with this fella:
Dice-K K'ed 5 Orioles batters while scattering 8 hits and a walk over five and a third. One of those hits unfortunately resulted in 2 of the 3 runs the Orioles would scratch out against Dice-K that afternoon. That's okay because the offense jumped out with 3 runs in the top of the first inning and never trailed, ending the day with a 9-run, 14-hit jubilee.
Let's get the rest of the Dice-K pics all out there now:
and one more...
"that'll do pig, that'll do..."
Did somebody say they wanted some defense shots of the baldest, most scrappiest (non-Eckstein style) second baseman around? I know I sure do. (Sidenote: Did you know David Eckstein was married in a galaxy far far away?)
i missed the nice Double P Dusty P turned, but here's this sort of action shot:
might as well throw a quick warm-up shot up in the mix:
Enough with the D...let's see some O vs the O's
Not his homerun shot, but it'll have to do:
Victor Martinez is not impressed with Matt Wieters:
This was not Youk's finest
JD and Mikey Lowell are in a same picture together so I'm just going to label it "fragile":
More Pedruggernaut shots, you say? Sure, have at them:
Seriously, Martinez still isn't impressed:
Now let's bring it home with some relief work:
And here's the obligatory "OMG-he's-delivering-the-ball-while-looking-at-the-ground" moment that every announcer in baseball still feels like commenting on even though he's been pitching in the majors for the past three years. Three cheers for the broadcast booths getting new material!
"Mr. Simpson, I don't use the word 'hero' lightly, but you are the greatest hero in American history."
all pictures via www.sicklygazelle.com, a humble little site that has not been updated in eons, take pity on it.
That about does it for my day at the park Sunday. Hope you enjoyed the pictures as much as I enjoyed being there.
