Game 149: That just sucked ... bad
No words for this game.
It was a game we don't like to see on the results page. But this is baseball, and these type of games happen. So what do the Sox do? They shake it off and get 'em tomorrow. Surprisingly, we haven't really seen a lot of games like this so far in 2009. To get one so late isn't too bad.
Just shake it off, folks. Shake it off ... but don't rub it!
(Oh. If you didn't see it, this is what happened...)

6 in the 6th ouch
Well it was ours to loose and we did just that.
Agreed
Can’t be having that if we don’t pull a “METZ” and make it to October. Offense looked good, Wake wasn’t awful, , V-Mart’s pretty good at catching wake (except for the PB today); just gotta have the ’pen not lose their composure in the games to come.
Byrd (1-1) vs. Greinke (14-8) tomorrow: Offense definitely needs to have a productive game.
Tonight's Haiku
Our bullpen failed us
No one can truly deny
Now no lead is safe.

Bad feeling
I didn’t get to watch most of the game, but I did watch the 4th and 5th, and at the end of the 5th I was just hopin’ that they’d call it because of rain. I was really getting a bad feeling.
Sometimes, I hate waking up right. :/
Man I love that tuna casserole.
MDC Strikes Again! (well not really - more he doesn't strike I guess)
But honestly, its just one game and it was pouring down rain. While it is certainly good to come flying into the playoffs hot, given some of our injuries and the age of the team not even being in a position to chase the Yankees and just settling into the wild card might not be the worst thing. Get some rest and be ready to take on the Angels. Just remember, we won’t have to beat the Royals in the playoffs!
We are not normal. We are legends.
I'd like to see the Sox try to catch the Yanks
A win last night would have put us within four, but inserting the brutal MDC into the game showed that Tito – just like last year – doesn’t care about winning the pennant. Sooner or later, the Angels will have their revenge on us – hope it’s not this year.

thank you though...
at least someone agrees with me that MDC is the worst. I always feel like I’m cursing the Pope in Rome everytime I bring up how depressing it is when I see him jog out of the bullpen.

The Yankees are giving the division away
…but Tito won’t take it.
Please explain
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

6 man rotation
Were we really trying to win last night? I didn’t see the game but that is a lot of damage done by a rehabing pitcher and the bullpen. Also pitching both Byrd and Wake means Becket (on 5 days rest) doesn’t line up with Greinke or the Yankee series.
We would have been 3 behind the Yankees in the loss column if we had won. It is there for the taking.
Yes, we were trying to win yesterday.
You can’t kill the pen every single night. You lose more games that way.

Exactly
It’s important to get players on track for the post-season. The Sox have about a 10% shot at the division. Why go all out for a longshot?

I didn’t see the game but
you should probably have just stopped there if you were going to talk about the game
i dont think anyone is trying to not win games, that’s just a ridiculous statement. I think with the way our offense has been playing we’ll still have a decent shot at catching the Yankees, they just don’t want to ruin the starting rotation in the process. A strong front of the rotation is the most important thing in the post season IMHO. Stuff like last night is going to happen. No use in freaking out when we still have three games against the Royals yet to play

clam down, folks
Look, winning the division would be nice and I think it is/would be great to make the Yankers and their fool fans sweat, but ….
The bottom line is that it doesn’t matter. We’re going to have to beat the Angels to get to the World Series, anyway … whether its in the first round or in the ALCS.
(Yes, you read that right … the Yankers WON’T beat the Angels if they meet up)
So, everyone just calm down.
